I know exactly what my sleep issue has been... two years at a university with all of us under the threat of not getting our contract renewed based on only student evaluations, and some of the rats gaming that system. It was tried on me, and for legal reasons, it failed.

Without that hanging over me, on my last trip, I slept some of the most amazing eight hour blocks, when I couldn't get up to four months and months on end.

Sometimes I need it for some early, early transport... or getting ready for an early morning scuba dive once or so on a trip.

The funny thing is, 99% of the time, I wake five or ten minutes right before the alarm sounds. It's some interesting brain working, somehow my brain subconsciouly keeping track of time as I sleep. 🤣

I've been wanting to find a smaller size simple battery clock for traveling with a loud enough alarm. So many of the new ones don't have good volume.

Found the perfect one in Sapporo at a 100 yen store (for 250 yen). But the piece of crap didn't even last six months... 😩

I feel like taking it apart to see how it works.

I was just thinking the other day... they should make some cool surreal movie with Mark Twain and Edgar Allan Poe... like a Bubba Ho-Tep meets Naked Lunch or something... Ed would be older than Twain... birth years, 1809 to 1835.

Ed died in '49, so Mark would only be 14... Ed was 40. Maybe Samuel (Mark Twain) Clemmons meeting Ed right before he died...

I didn't know much at all about Slade, until I started getting their albums. They're almost like a glam rock to AC/DC bridge. I also quite liked the movie. It pre-dates Clash's Rude Boy, and had that spirit of a story in the band... good stuff.

I'd see this version of Quiet Riot... I passed on seeing them in Ballard (Seattle) with Kevin. Too bad, because that was a small club-sized place. I just didn't have the cash at the time.

Having gotten almost all Slade's albums though (never got to see them live either)... Kevin was certainly channeling Noddy. Two of QR's hits were Slade covers.
