@freedosproject Ah - must be mis-remembering the key bindings - personal capacitors need replaced after all this time. I do recall the speed of Galaxy and AsEasyAs in comparison with fully commercial frontrunners at the time though.
@freedosproject Yes! I'm pretty sure it could be set up too use Wordstar commands, a challenging learning curve, but it was worth it, as I still use those with the joe editor, and must-install on my linux boxen. Galaxy was incredibly fast too, as I recall.
What was that founding principle of the NHS? "Free at the point of being able to shovel money into the grasping hands of our oligarchic mates?" Headline: "NHS to expand use of private sector to tackle waits" Yet to see a BBC headline that reads "Why has the Tory establishment run down the NHS?" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-66319064
I've been tempted to mute the word threads for obvious reasons. But maybe now's a good time to remember Chesterton's view, the mastodon in the room, advertising. "It is really not so repulsive to see the poor asking for money as to see the rich asking for more money. And advertisement is the rich asking for more money." Full quote here: https://chesterton.wordpress.com/2016/10/20/advertising/ I wonder what he would have said about personal data extortion ("use this app & we'll take this personal data" is really just extortion.)
@Merovius Had exactly this situation recently. Party A was seriously miffed that I didn't just give him Party B's phone number. That response alone justified my caution.
People of the Fediverse, I bear news. We have successfully carried out The Sacred Car Soul Transferrance Ceremony on Leo's old body. We waited tensely to see if it would work and tentatively whispered "Hello?" We heard a reply "Where the fe**in' fe** is my engine?" (Leo's language deteriorates when he does ferry trips, after spending time with some lorries in the ferry to Ireland a while back.) So I give you..... Goth Leo. And he's pretty happy with his new body.
@fitheach Sorry - late to your thread. And our reasoning may be different to yours. We've stuck with xmpp using Conversations (from f-droid) and omemo encryption. The main reason is it is much easier to self-host using prosody. The last time I checked, there was really only one matrix server, which I found clunky, hard to configure and resource hungry. We run clients on the laptops (gajim), phones and tablets, and all see the same messages. Clients are trouble free, with the ease of self-hosting
@tiffanycli I've long thought that airports are so weird because no-one actually wants to be there. If you are arriving, you're there because you want to be somewhere else. If you are departing, you want to be somewhere else.
