A rich jaebol playing detective as a 2nd job meets up with a woman with super-vision to solve crimes & we get a drama that doesn't take itself seriously at all - it's comic-like in some ways. Many tropes are exaggerated. The 4 leads work well together and make for great comedy.

The disguises they come up with are fun. The writing is witty, although, some scenes are far-fetched. We have romance, comedy, & mystery. It's a fun watch with a decent story. Some loose ends, but overall a nice break from more serious dramas.

Gyeongseong Creature
(2023 - Netflix, 10 1:10 eps)

Unusual in that it depicts the Japanese occupation in 1945 & the war crimes. Many actors turned down the roles because the topic is too sensitive.

When you hate horror, but you find yourself rooting for the creature, you know the writing & acting are fabulous. The costumes are wonderful, the sets, the props, all superbly executed. It is a stellar production.

An unwilling hero finds himself "drafted". Enlisting the help of professional detectives, they set off to find out what exactly is happening. It's a great mystery thriller with action, family & community, & romance.

The questions of what would you do under torture, what do you turn a blind eye to, how much risk are you willing to take, will haunt you as you see what the characters are up against.

Anxiously awaiting part 2.

It is growing on me. Love the red/green theme going on. The leads are playing the duality of their roles amazingly. I love the side characters - although I don't feel we've had enough of their stories yet.

I am disappointed in the lack of soul switching problems. The scene in the grocery store was marvelous - we need more of that.

The kiss in 14 was great, but I kept thinking - they're kissing themselves?? I need more clarity about whether they've resigned themselves to adapting to the new bodies or what.

For the 1st time, I am seriously considering fast-forwarding through a drama during a 1st watch.

The FL's character in "Don't Dare to Dream" / "Jealousy Incarnate" is so awful (thru eps 13 / 24) that I can't stand when she's on the screen - how can a person be so clueless?

It is so bad that it was going to be the 1st drama that I drop. But I went & read reviews & so many people loved it that I think I'm going to resort to fast-forwarding.

I've seen this actress in "When the Camellia Blooms" & in "It's Okay That's Love" & although she grew on me a bit in the last one, I didn't particularly love her in either - she picks annoying characters (or makes them that way).

A beautiful story about strong women who save themselves, save their family, & save an industry. The story is about weaving, Kesi, & embroidery during the late Qing dynasty.

The wife of the Ren family is a determined woman with a head for business & a talent for weaving. When her husband disappears, it's up to her to keep the family together & keep the business running. At odds with her husband's concubine but still determined to keep the concubine's son - the only heir - safe & educated, this woman fights against the patriarchal society.

It's a well-paced, beautifully filmed drama with gorgeous costumes & hair design. The story covers about 10 yrs. It provides a glimpse of the weaving & silk industry, how difficult life was for women at the time & how cruel the justice system was for everyone.

One of the best sci-fi films! Aliens have been using Earth, more precisely, human bodies, as prisons. Unfortunately, some alien criminals have escaped & the guards must hunt them down before they can harm humans.

Time travel, robots, aliens, mages, shamans, shape-shifters, a bounty hunter & a woman with a gun - the kitchen sink of sci-fi & it knows it, so it doesn't take itself too seriously. There are many nods to western sci-fi classics. There's too much action, too many over-the-top scenes, generally too much of everything. It is a thrilling, fine-tuned balance of comedy & action.

Great effects, stellar acting by all, magic, sword fights in silk robes, amazingly choreographed fight scenes & the mystery of the Joseon woman with the gun make this a fabulous watch. Can't wait for Alienoid 2!

Thanks for the reply. I completely agree with your assessment. I had misunderstood your post & thought you hadn't liked the last episode, not realizing you meant you hadn't seen it yet.

There are clues throughout that he's also a time traveler - like he recognizes the car crash drawing in her notebook & we get to see the stamp on his wrist in episode 6. I loved these little clues.

Ooh - I'd like to hear in a spoiler what you didn't like about the last episode. I loved it all the way through. But I may have been so enamored with the show that I missed something.

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract
(2023 - Viki, 12 1:10 eps)

What started fabulously fizzled in the end. A romance with absolutely gorgeous hanbok designs & embroidery, where a Joseon seamstress travels to the present to repeat fate. The acting was great, the costumes were hit & miss - noticeable because of the emphasis on fashion.

The leads had good chemistry, although I had a tiny bit of 2nd lead syndrome. 2nd couple was funny & cute. The villains were the problem. Their stories were convoluted & their character changes didn't make sense. The floral & butterfly symbolism was beautiful. The female friendship was nice.

Glad to have seen it once just for the sewing & embroidery!

I bet M. Ju was going to leave the company to Do Hee's dad as co-founder because she didn't like any of her children.

The person who signs the contract dies - so it either had to be her mom or dad or both?? Wasn't she about 10 when they died? Could it have been something to do with having a child or healing a sick child?

& I'm still stuck on "Ju" being a name for Jesus & the references to her son being the spawn of the devil.
