@ku @stevendbrewer @quinn @dansinker I got my first Oura ring six years ago, after a period where life stress had wrecked my sleep, producing all sorts of terrible problems.

Fixing the life stress was what fixed my sleep, but the Oura ring has still been useful for figuring out which lifestyle changes helped as well.

And it's kinda cool to have the six years of sleep data.

@cwebber Cool your jets. It's just the next century that you're a quarter of the way into. Even if it is the first century of a new millennium.

Of course, a lot of people ARE getting it, as here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/02/opinion/hurricane-helene-florida-insurance.html

"Parts of low-lying coastal Florida and Texas are already seeing population declines"

It's largely policy-makers and the media who are talking about how this is beyond what anyone could have expected, when it is in fact exactly what anyone with any sense has been expecting for some years now.

Jackie almost always gets up before me and makes the coffee. But every few weeks I’ll wake up first and then I’ll be the one to make the coffee. And when I do, I bring Jackie a cup of bed coffee.

Ashley routinely stays in bed until the second person gets up. #dogsofmastodon 🐕 https://www.philipbrewer.net/tag/dogsofmastodon/

I think it’s funny to pronounce baklava like balaclava. Fortunately, Jackie says it’s okay, as long as I’m not talking to the baker.

    Yummy desert.

A guy who used a cane had his phone slip out of his pocket on the bus, so I offered to pick it up for him. Taking it he said he appreciated young folks looking out for old folks like him.I thanked him for thinking of me as a young folk, and didn’t tell him it was my birthday. Or which birthday it is.

At 10:00 AM on the first Tuesday of each month, they test the warning sirens. The first time Ashley heard them, she wanted to howl along. I didn’t want her to think that she shouldn’t howl, so I joined in howling with her. Now we do it every month. #dogsofmastodon https://www.philipbrewer.net/tag/dogsofmastodon/
