    PSA:
Now may be the first time you hear about Magnus Hirschfeld and the Institute for Sexual Science.

Be aware of the fact that Hirschfeld was not only gay, but also Jewish.
"The Nazi Party attacked Dr. Hirschfeld for his ideas about sex, sexuality, and gender, as well as his Jewish ancestry."
"Hirschfeld: 'If Germany doesn't want me, I don't want it either.'"
    https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/magnus-hirschfeld-2

My point: Stuff is intersectional - be wary of every 'simple' history. And fight together ✊🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ #TransRights

While I'm at it, another #PSA:
Don't use ableist language to describe/disparage fascists.
This is no analysis, doesn't help anyone and hurts a lot of people.

Fascists are not 'stupid' - they know what they do.
They are not irrational, but rational in their own logic.
They are not immoral, but moral according to their own morals.

Not understanding this will be our downfall.

    I agree 100%

The whole #SafeguardingResearch / @SafeguardingResearch wouldn't be possible without Social Media (especially and formost the #fediverse).

I know I don't have any authority, but still:

This historian gives you explicit permission to delete and destroy each and every bit of data (pun intended) that can put you or others in danger.

Lives Saved >>> Historical Record Preserved

We can always work with incomplete records - and tbh:
I much prefer having Oral History from people who survived instead of documents from people who didn't.
(Our historical records are ever incomplete.)

So, anyone up for requesting API-keys?
Very easy: "To request an API key, email `Catalog_API@nara.gov`."
You should give them a believable reason why you want a key.

Maybe you are a Citizen Scientist interested in materials from the 50s?
Or a local historian interested in material mentioning a few towns around you?

Sharing some advice I wrote in a private group, advice that has kept me from getting hurt (much) over the past >10 years #protest

    - If you go, don't go alone - best is as a group of people (3-8) who look out for each other & who keep together (no one gets left behind)
    - Try to avoid being herded into some kind of police corollary or side-street
    - Always scan your surroundings, look at how people and especially cops behave

    - If things start to feel weird: leave
    - If you know people with experience re protests and cops in your area: try keeping close to them
    - don't get lost in the moment and the emotions
    - don't destroy things
    - if things get hairy and you're stuck: keep together and don't panic

    It's always unpredictable.

And looking from one ocean away: this 50501 stuff looks... a bit off (but that's just me)

@lavaeolus@fedihum.org - disable Face ID on your phones, turn them off when not using them, better: avoid bringing them at all or use a burner - don’t spread rumours on social media, follow the official account of the organising team if there is one, and notify them if you see anything that needs sharing - ask if organisers have infolines, write the number down on your arm - ask if the organisers have a number to call in case of arrests, write it down on your arm - talk to your group beforehand to make sure what everybody is comfortable with #50501movement #50501protests

    Something good in these times:
#SafeguardingResearch went in 3 weeks from 2 people and less then 50GB to now >12 + many more in the second row and multiple hundred TBs located all over the globe <3

We can actually think about mirroring data collections from the Internet Archive etc. pp.
    (and are already doing this)

So today I met with an executive from the International Association of Forensic Nurses—an organization I’m collaborating with. I was told that they were receiving overwhelming communications from their 6,000+ membership of nurses unable to access information on #sexualhealth and #traumainformed care. My Mastadon buddy @lavaeolus@fedihum.org was able to upload access to important #CDC documents through #safeguardingresearch This place really is making change. #mastadon #HoosierMast

How do you think the systematic mass-murder on an industrial scale started?

In 1939, some camps where already there, people already rounded up - but the 'efficient' mass-murder had not started yet.
In the spring of 1939, even before the start of #WW2, people from the highest circle started planning. Led by Philipp Bouhler (director of Hitler's private chancellery) and Karl Brandt (Hitler's attending physician).

They planned to murder all 'disabled' children (& later adults) - #AktionT4

Just read something that made my blood boil:
"Learn from how Hitler stripped power from the Jews before the Holocaust: by Jews' inaction."

    This has long been disproven.
It is evidently false, a very harmful statement and blames Jews for their own destruction.

This statement is never ok, no matter how important acting against inaction is right now.
