@mauve check out some onigirazu videos. They are super easy to make too and you already have the ingredients.

@davew people are angry and even though that is no justification for rudeness, I empathise with their sentiment.
Artists already have a really hard time these days without AI adding a ton of noise to the internet.
There are crap AI publishers flooding the short story and eBook markets now. The stories don't work of course, but once you have thousands of new items per day, it is very hard for real artists to get noticed.

@davew in my specific case it boils down to:
* how the training model was made without any regard to licenses and copyright.
* how it will output code that contains full on verbatin proprietary code from repos it shouldn't use.
* how it will plagiarise and mimic artwork by real artists in a way that had a human done it, it would end up in litigation.
* how it is very confident in its halucinations.
* the energy cost of all of it.I'm mostly complaining about generative AI.

@cwebber which CPU board you went with, is your Pocket a RK3588 as well?
Would love to read a review about it if you ever publish one (but zero pressure), there's a lack of reviews and impressions from pocket owners out there.

@mcepl that is really not the case. You can use Lua in small projects without any problem. I do it all the time.
The article is not about having or not having a standard library. That matters very little. It is about providing mechanisms and tools over features.

@cwebber I'm torn between MNT Reform Next and MNT Pocket Reform. I'm drawn to the pocket, specially cause what I do most of the time is just writing and I tend to love small screens. Still, I can't make a choice.
Were you tempted by the pocket one?

@enieber activity pub is way too chatty as a protocol, the whole pushing data to all contacts makes me scream.

@m455 Chicken Scheme is sooooo good! If I was using Linux I'd be into it for sure.
As for JS my favourite is using just browser-based stuff. Mithril still my go to for most things these days. I been considering going back to old Enyo just for the kicks.

@m455 I don't really have a preferred stack these days to be honest, I been out of the loop for too long and am trying to get back into it. Saw that Veilid is flavouring Flutter and Python both of which are not for me.
Lua, JS, Racket, and maybe Swift are where I'm more comfy.

@jwildeboer depends on how you define change right? You can change your approach to meta apps. You can also join other apps and communities that are more aligned with your values and your local first ideals. That is change. ;-)

@enieber it probably is but I don't see what that would achieve to be honest. As in what is the benefit from bridging those networks?

@m455 @VeilidNetwork @spritely Veilid seems quite interesting but the tech stack doesn't match me. Hope they eventually get more bindings for other stacks.

After Zuck & Friends recent hatespeech, I guess it is time to put even more efforts into #decentralization
Pity I dislike how expensive and chatty #activitypub protocol is. Maybe it is time for me to get back into some #SecureScuttlebutt #SSB development.

@mcepl I don't think you understood it at all. The TL;DR of the article is that Lua is a toolbox to be adapted, and that the community favours mechanisms and tools over features. There is zero claims about hate whatsoever.
Regarding to your PR, I think your tone there was not right for someone who is trying to contribute to FOSS (I read the mailing list exchange). You literally patronised and antagonised the maintainer because they didn't want your PR. That is not the way.
