As Naomi Klein described in "The Shock Doctrine" neoliberal economic ideology took advantage of crises to deregulate & privatise public services, hobble trade unions & civil society, & create conditions ideal for private wealth accumulation & disastrous for equality, work & welfare. Cataclysm capitalism does all this and further. The pace of change is accelerated, the dismantling of public institutions more complete, the attack on democracy more overt. ⤵️

A federal judge found that efforts by Musk & his team to permanently shutter the US Agency for International Development likely violated the Constitution “in multiple ways” and robbed Congress of its authority to oversee the dissolution of an agency it created. The ruling - first time a judge has moved to rein in Mr. Musk and his DoGE directly - was based on the finding that Musk has acted as an officer of the US without being properly appointed to that role by Trump. A group of unnamed aid workers who have sued to stop the demolition of USAID are likely to succeed.

[« Words and illumination »…] Peter #Sinfield, a co-founder of prog rockers King #Crimson who went on to a successful pop songwriting career has died aged 80.
King Crimson announced the news, describing him as the band’s “original roadie, lyricist, lights operator and live sound engineer”.
Sinfield was born in London and lived an itinerant and bohemian youth, including spells in Spain and Morocco – he later described himself as King Crimson’s “pet hippie”.
