@lebronjames75@augustus@lain Why should we prefer any evil? Isn't this how we have legitimised our politics which has created more stagnation and corruption? At what point do we stop framing it as taking the lesser of evils and figuring out a better alternative to what we have now? I would prefer fixing our internal problems, listening to the problems that the common people have and focusing on solving those.
You don't have to resort to insults. I get that this is a sensitive topic overall and this isn't the first time that you have responded like this when this topic has come up. I don't know what appeasement you want from this thread, it's not enough to say that Russia is bad or that I can understand from an Eastern European perspective why Russian influence is bad. But I will be coming at this from a Western European perspective which is going to be different. We just don't have the same shared history here which means that we prioritise things differently.
@lain@augustus Gotcha. To think, if it weren't for people like this then Russia could really have become more western. But all that work has been undone because they wanted ukraine so badly.
@lebronjames75@augustus@lain Meds aren't going to fix either of our brains. I'm just saying that Russia was slowly integrating with the west even if only for economic reasons, they were consuming a lot of western propaganda, the media and culture. They were investing in Europe and the elites were cosier with each other, had deals and some similar politics with each other. Now that has been set back. If you can convince Russia to join your cause, then there is less friction with the rest of Eastern Europe. If you want conflict to continue in Europe then you target them.
@lain@augustus That doesn't sound too bad... lol. But I don't know why she says this and I don't think she is much better from what the letter describes.
@augustus I didn't even know who she was. I don't even know if this is good or bad news...

simWatching women behave like feminine women in classic films and still be pretty kick arse at times is a lot more refreshing than what we get with modern interpretations where they aren't allowed to emote because they have to be stoic and like girlbosses. It just seems so different. Why can't we go back to this?
@Moon Mastodon has never really prioritised compatibility anyway. It only works if all parties care about remaining compatible with each other. I don't see why I should care when others don't.
@trumpgpt@Moon We definitely need more yuge and epic meme posts to be the greatest. I'm not sure that a fake news filter is conducive to free speech and we love our free speech here. We also have a chilled atmosphere here with plenty of shitposting which is great.
@trumpgpt@Moon That's how we roll on SPC, Did you know that SPC is basically a two-man team? Supporting SPC is like supporting a small american business, except that it is more of a hobbyist thing. How great is that?
So I'm just going to say this, whether you are pro-MAGA, whether you support Trump or you support Biden, whether you support Republicans or Democrats... whether you are anti-vaxx and/or you are sceptical relating to covid events, whether you are pro-vaccines (Hi Jeff!) or trust the science and supported the covid lockdown measures or perhaps you don't care about these issues or you find it all very entertaining... whatever your opinion is on these matters, you are welcome on SPC.
