     @Moon with ugly hacks (like the span tag drama), and there's no real spec, some implementations/frontends just quote, others add the post to the quoted post context, so on.

     @Moon Mastodon has never really prioritised compatibility anyway. It only works if all parties care about remaining compatible with each other. I don't see why I should care when others don't.
