First serious ride with the new Roubaix. Feels pretty much the same as the old one, which isn't too surprising given how similar the geometries are between the two. As I suspected, the biggest difference I noticed was the gearing. It was smooth once I got up to speed, but on an incline where I used to switch between 21-23-25T, I now had to rely on one fewer cog (21-24T) so it was harder to maintain my speed. I will probably get used to it, though.

Specialized Roubaix comes with a Power saddle - 155mm wide for smaller frames (52 and below) and 143mm wide for larger ones. The reasoning behind this is that smaller frames tend to be ridden by women, whose sit bones tend to be wider than men's.

The two models (155mm on the left, 143mm on the right) are clearly different in more than just the width. The 143mm model has a larger cutout that extends to the front part of the saddle. I assume that's based on the male anatomy.

It would be nice if they'd let me choose the width of the saddle when purchasing their bike instead of assuming the gender of the buyer based on their height.

Funny how road.cc is talking about 11-34T as if it's a new phenomenon. My old Roubaix, which I bought five years ago, already had a 11-34T cassette. My first road bike, a 2014 Cannondale Synapse, had 11-32T. That's a decade ago...

This is a long shot, but if you are in the Seattle area and see a bike like the one in the picture, please let me know. It was my 2021 Specialized Roubaix Sport that was stolen in front of FOB Poke Bar in Belltown, Seattle, on Friday, January 10, around 12:20 PM.

Honestly, I've only got myself to blame. I had the bike locked to a staple rack with a U-Lock, but I must have dropped the key on the ground right next to the bike. i was having lunch in FOB Poke Bar when I saw someone trying to unlock my bike out the window. I ran out, but the bastard was able to ride away in the nick of time.

So... please keep an eye out. Thank you!

@tokyo_0 I've been using Perl and PowerShell scripts for platform compatibility. Is that something you can consider doing? (Of course I'm speaking without knowing anything about what you have to do...)

@tokyo_0 That must be what I've just read. I obviously misread it for 13 months instead of 23.

@tokyo_0 If the rate of inflation is 5 percent or more now, it's certainly not reflected on the incomes over there. I've just read that the net income of the Japanese has been down for 13 consecutive months...

@tokyo_0 Sadly, $13 USD for coffee, a BLT and a piece of cake would be increadibly cheap in Seattle. I had a single-patty cheeseburger at Five Guys today, and it was $12 after tax. 😅

@tokyo_0 Unless it's a super severe headache, in which case I may see a doctor, I usually just eat food easy to digest (e.g. chicken noodle soup), drink lots of water and some orange juice, and get as much sleep as I can.

@tk I've always been a fan of straight-sixes. One of my first cars, the Datsun 280ZX, had one. I've also owned three 3-series BMWs (E36 328i, E36 M3 and E46 M3), which are all powered by straight-sixes. Silky-smooth motors. I've never understood the appeal of a V8.

@tk You're right. Looks like it's cables and end devices that matter rather than the connectors themselves.

"Various USB standards, including USB 3.2 and USB4, also use the USB-C connector type, and these cables and ports are cross-compatible with Thunderbolt™ 4. When devices with different capabilities are connected, the connection will only support the lowest common data rate. For example, you can plug a USB 3.2 cable into a Thunderbolt™ 4 port, and the port will negotiate data, power, and video signal capabilities with the connected device at a USB 3.2 level."

@tokyo_0 @ArtBear @mxk @downey I've finally caught up. So what we're really talking about is "silenced" (or muted?) accounts, whose posts you don't see directly but will still appear on your timeline if boosted by someone you follow. OTOH, if you block a user, then the posts by that blocked account will NOT show up on your timeline no matter what. Am I getting it right?
