Many years ago, my friend in Portland literally bumped into the Dalai Lama. She stumbled into him, looked up, and stammered a wide-eyed apology. He laughed and said, "You may be at peace, child."

Today I saw a new doctor. He was introduced to me as "Dr [first name]" and OK, he's Asian, so I thought maybe he has a first name Americans find challenging to pronounce.

His last name is Kwak.

My dad called me a Bridezilla because I bought a $900 wedding dress (with my mom's permission), which included a wee little jacket and the shoes AND the fucking alterations.

"Why can't you go to David's Bridal and get one of those $99 dresses I keep seeing on TV?"

My aunt and our gay friends were in the room. He got absolutely TOLD.

I honestly think I owe the #lgbtq community a debt of gratitude for that one. My uncles (and my aunt) saved me from getting married in polyester.

Today my husband told off someone for their #misogyny in front of god and like 500 people.

I'm so proud of him. He always stands up for people when he sees them being abused.

I hate #meta and don't want to participate in #fascism but #facebook is the best tool for animal rescue that I've come across. It's helped connect so many animals in need with rescuers, and there's just nothing out there that compares.

This feels awful.
