I have a hard time trusting people who (in public at least) only ever say positive and uplifting things about being chronically ill. I get that a positive mindset is a really big deal for some people, and it's good that it helps, but I suspect it feeds into the common abled perception that anyone who's struggling is just not being positive enough or not trying hard enough. I think we should talk about the really shitty parts of chronic illness in public, too.
People who share their joy in doing a thing without trying to make you feel bad for not doing the thing, or insisting that everyone can do the thing, are so wonderful to follow. I love seeing your pickled vegetables and your mended clothes and your hand crafted electronic doodads and the photos you took on your hike and the interesting new way that you cycled today 😍
Pals if anyone knows of any Australian companies who completely genuinely fully support 100% remote employment and who may be in the market for a grizzly old greybeard software architect, lmk 🙏🏻 I know Atlassian seems to be onboard with fully remote, any other recommendations very welcome! #GetFediHired
Fellow Aussies, have you heard of Yarn'n toilet paper?? It's made in Australia, 100% recycled, 50% of profits goes to First Nations Education programs, and it's Indigenous owned! https://yarnn.au/
If you don't believe that covid infection can cause permanent disability then would you please send me all the peer-reviewed studies you've found which detail clinical trials which led to 100% remission of POTS symptoms in 95+% of participants - I need to know if I'm missing any proven, effective treatments 🙏🏻
Literally no one with ME/CFS has ever been like "actually it's no big deal, I wouldn't have done anything to prevent this condition if I could have, chill out, you won't mind joining this club at all!"
Fucking public health officials, on the other hand 🙃
The bad ones do not care about public health, AT ALL. They do not care if you spend the rest of your life in bed, unemployed, and impoverished.
If covid lockdowns helped some kids realise there were options in life aside from going to school every day and being made miserable as a result, and they didn't want to go back to school after the lockdown, THE LOCKDOWN WASN'T THE FUCKING PROBLEM, WAS IT??
@MediaActivist Oof, I was going to ask if you've checked the Clean Air Stars map but I thought I'd take a quick look first - only 5 entries in the whole of the UK?! 😱 https://cleanairstars.com/
*Literally any company asks me for some form of opinion or feedback*
Me: "Ok, are you sitting comfortably? Got a pen? I'd like to talk to you today about the measures you're taking (or not taking) in reference to the ongoing mass-disabling pandemic, and the ongoing climate crisis. Any questions before we start?"
God I am so fucking sick of having to watch "nice" people completely not fucking bother to do the SMALLEST thing to adjust to a world changing, life changing pandemic. So very over it!
Chronically ill with #POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), living on unceded Whadjuk Noongar land - Boorloo/Perth, Western Australia. Quietly obsessed with the musical Tanz der Vampire. Occasional cross stitcher.~* Transphobic 'feminism' is garbage *~Economies are supposed to serve people, people are not supposed to serve economies 😤
