💧️ it's important to remember that one of the reasons COVID is so rarely cited as a reason for athletes dropping out of events or musicians cancelling shows is that COVID is often explicitly an exclusion criteria for insurance coverage. the actuaries know (they always know) but without robust consistent testing many are getting away with simply being silent on the cause of their sudden turn in health because the alternative is a complete financial loss

seriously, if you see a musician cite "summer flu" or whatever as the reason that they cancelled a show — it's COVID, they know it's COVID, they probably tested positive several times, but if they say "COVID" then they are screwed so they need to speak in euphemisms

💧️ it's unreal that we managed to somehow defeat SARS, ran inquiries to learn how to prevent it from happening again, it came back, we let it happen, and now we as a society are actively, reactionarily regressing away from everything we learned this time, going as far as to remove masks from clinical settings such as oncology wards, where they were the standard of care for decades, and are socially casting out anyone who continues to resist the disease

🌟️ Air filtration removes pathogens and pollutants from the air, and I was reminded that normal people don't believe that.

They think that germs are good and that the air is natural and pure and that filtration changes that. They think that without the germs and the nature, their kids will become sickly. They'll fight tooth and nail to resist filtering the air because it's different from what they're used to, and they can't handle that.

How the fucking hell do you fight that?
