It isn't necessarily true that with the rise of fascism comes the end of capitalism. Did fascism not arise in Germany, Italy, and Spain? Yes, they did. And are those countries not still capitalist? Yes, they are. Fascism rising in a country only means that there is a possibility of capitalism being abolished, but it is no guarantee. A strong Socialist Party with enormous support from the public is one factor that must be met to guarantee the abolition of capitalism.

โญ ๐ ๐ ๐ง โญ (radical_egocom@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Nov-2024 01:45:28 JST โญ ๐ ๐ ๐ง โญ In terms of foreign policy Republicans and Democrats are likely equal, but that doesn't make them both equal on other terms, such as reproductive rights, trans rights, and labor rights, which the Democrats are more left-leaning when it comes to those positions, albeit not as left-leaning as I would want them to be, especially on labor rights. Overall, when you take all of their positions into consideration, Republicans and Democrats are not equal.

Harris wants more abortion rights and seems to at least not be openly hostile towards trans people. There are other dissimilarities between them, but this alone is proof that Trump is clearly more harmful than Harris to a considerable portion of the American population. What's your evidence that they are equally as evil.

They should definitely try again and again until they're victorious, but as of now, with third parties like the Green Party realizing that they aren't going to be able to make a strong enough impact, it would be more tactical for all of the third party supporters to vote for the furthest left candidate (Harris), and then for the next four years try to build a strong enough party to potentially be successful next time. 2/2

Everything you're saying is hypothetical. Yes, it would be potentially beneficial if 5 million or more voters could vote for a viable third party, and doing so would likely change the political landscape even if they don't win, but that isn't going to happen in this election. Building the support to do something like this needs to be done in between presidential election seasons, and unfortunately, no viable third party was able to do this. 1/

chestas (chestas@aus.social)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Nov-2024 23:27:44 JST chestas Some people?
The majority of the world believe in deities of some sort, with many countries ruled by non-secular governments.
Atheists are a minority, and like other minorities (including religious minorities) have, and still do, face discrimination and persecution.
Personally I see nothing wrong with faith, whether it be in God(s), scriptures, holy places or relics, inanimate objects, science or anything else. I don't think people are weak minded, deluded, misguided etc. They are just people trying to get through life the best they can with what they have and where they are.
I do have an issue when faiths attack and belittle each other which is why I try not to do it myself.
Religious organisations have a lot to answer for, but that's a different story.

โญ ๐ ๐ ๐ง โญ (radical_egocom@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Nov-2024 23:27:43 JST โญ ๐ ๐ ๐ง โญ There are still major problems with faith, even if held by non-antagonistic people. Faith convinces people that belief without evidence is not only permissible, but is also a virtue, which will inevitably lead to people developing a mindset of accepting beliefs without critical examination, causing in people an inability to properly discern truth from non-truth even outside of a religious context. Faith is not good and should be rejected completely.

I don't like either. They are both agents of capitalism and imperialism. Out of the two (of which one will become president), Harris will be less inconvenient for leftists than Trump.
