I need a little help with plant ID.
I saw something which could be a Tall Potato Orchid but I've only ever seen them with the flowers open. Does anyone know?

Some people?
The majority of the world believe in deities of some sort, with many countries ruled by non-secular governments.
Atheists are a minority, and like other minorities (including religious minorities) have, and still do, face discrimination and persecution.
Personally I see nothing wrong with faith, whether it be in God(s), scriptures, holy places or relics, inanimate objects, science or anything else. I don't think people are weak minded, deluded, misguided etc. They are just people trying to get through life the best they can with what they have and where they are.
I do have an issue when faiths attack and belittle each other which is why I try not to do it myself.
Religious organisations have a lot to answer for, but that's a different story.
I'm embarrassed. Chess is my passion, and like all hobbyists I follow the top players and stars of the game.
But WTF!!
The current big event in the chess World is the Jerusalem Masters organised by the Israeli chess federation. So while they are killing Palestinians and Lebanese, they are hosting a cultural chess festival? I am disgusted by this, and no less because two Ukrainians are playing who should be able to sympathise with people having their homeland invaded!
Sorry, I know it isn't important in the scheme of things, but this is my little part of life and I am sickened by it.
Spring colours (a bit early, I know) I saw walking around Latrobe this morning.
Grevillea, tea tree, and wattle all showing their beauty.
At the end of the day, we could all sit contentedly knowing we'd put a little good back into the world, fought against the hatred and small mindedness, acted as guardians of the land and the weak.
And then the dragons arrived...
I voted yes, but I think I'm just more aware now than I was 20 years ago.
I very much needed a walk in a forest today.
Found this beautiful clump of Velvet Foot chilling out on the side of a tree

My wife and I just hung some prayer flags up between our apricot trees.
I've just seen the Netflix series All The Light We Cannot See, based on the novel by Anthony Doerr which is sitting on my bookcase. It has tempted me to read and/or reread some novels based in WWII.
Does anyone have any recommendations of novels based historically in or around WWII?
