@lookitmychicken @rinmari basically the same if its just through music streaming, but they payout is much more complicated because there are different tiers of payout if the artist has a video of the same song (which is also connected to youtube music). video streaming earns more than just song streaming, and if the channel has ads, theres also that revenue even if you have youtube premium. they also get a payout if they enroll a song in ID detection, so if their song is used in a video, they get a cut of the profits or have the option to file a takedown notice
im not finding anything specific with the figures, likely because youtube's system is much more complicated. i wouldn't be surprised if the song streaming only payout is the same, but the vast majority of artists i see (especially small indie ones) upload videos for all of their songs, so i imagine that helps

@lookitmychicken @rinmari i definitely think its worth trying again! thats all i use, and it has a fairly robust algorithm, includes lyrics, and has a lot of indie artists that refuse/aren't popular enough for spotify. it also has an end of year wrapped in the same vein as spotify and does this on a seasonal basis too

@lookitmychicken i feel like elder connotates this idea of having earned respect or something like that. i agree, i think its not weird to refer to other that way, but being in your 30s and referring to yourself as an elder is just odd. i was mentioning to someone else that i feel like it reinforces the idea that you cant have fan interests past your early 20s. its like twink death but worse

anyone else feel like they get a sense of fight or flight when they see ppl describing themselves as a fandom elder?
unless you qualify for retirement benefits, i dont want to hear it
i think for me, there are too many people that wear this as a badge of entitlement to speak over others in an elitist way. why not just say you've been into something for X ammount of time? half the time, ppl using this title for themselves are like. lol 30. where's the octogenarians?!
