@jon I appreciate this and that Vivaldi won’t have a built in crypto wallet that nobody asked for.

So, @tchambers , tldr; but I’m sure there is a guide for migrating Mastodon accounts to indieweb.social. Can you point me in the right direction?

@tchambers @kamalaharrisforpresidentnews It still identified Republican when Barack Obama was President. I’m sad that I didn’t see how excellent he was while he was in office.

But I enjoy the hell out of Barack and Michelle when they give speeches. Tonight was a master stroke.

@tchambers The entire browser world has been enshittiified. None of them are truly private. They all have bolted on crap from crypto wallets to AI models and other whimsical junk to say ‘Ooo look at me”!

I get that boutique and small browser makers have to make money somehow. But there has to be a better way. Not that I can offer up anything helpful on this front.

@darnell If the Democrats are going to change candidates there is one answer and it is Kamala. It should be uncontested and everyone should line up behind her.

She is beyond qualified and checks the boxes for what Democrats and Americans want in a candidate. She is younger, energetic, and won’t take shit from anyone.

@darnell I like Apple’s approach of letting any AI platform get plugged in and let the user choose which they prefer to use.

@darnell They do but I miss being able to install Safari on Windows. But Apple also sucks at making Windows based software so the experience is always grating.

@mekkaokereke Portland just voted out their progressive DA for a centrist police sympathetic DA.

Part of it was the current progressive DA walking into a time bomb of a poorly thought out drug decriminalization law that made drug use rampant in Portland.

Unfortuante because I thought the SA was good working through a bad hand as he took office.

    @darnell Yes, the mobile carrier.

I can by it at full price yes. But I can’t opt for 24 month financing which is what I want.

@darnell Neither. If you by a new iPhone from Apple and want to finance it you must select a carrier.

While the phone is unlocked my understanding is you have to activate the iPhone on the carrier you chose and Mint is not an option.

@darnell Which is odd given you must use carrier financing to finance an iPhone direct from Apple. You can’t even do it with an Apple Card anymore.

The only reason I ever got an Apple Card was to get an iPhone direct from Apple and spread the cost over 24 months. I’m on Mint so I’ve been locked out of that option.

@darnell You know, all Apple needs to do is allowing windowing and the ability to run macOS apps in a virtual macOS container.

They don’t need the full macOS interface. ChromeOS is fantastic because at its core it is a simple lightweight OS that run Android apps + PWA’s out of the box. Plus a switch to turn on Linux and install Linux apps.

iPadOS should steal that idea. iOS at its core but a flip of the switch for full desktop apps plus excellent window management tools.
