     @rlounsbury we have about 5 billion years until the Sun goes red giant and destroys the Earth and Moon. That's a lot of time for humans, or others, to make a moon base.

     @rlounsbury it has been 66 million years since the last mass extinction (the one that took out the non-avian dinosaurs). We have one about every 50-100 million years.

     At that rate, we have about 50-100 more chances to evolve a spacefaring species before the Earth and Moon disappear.

     @evan assuming we don’t make the planet uninhabitable before then.
