    @kaia i knew a girl who lost her hair and she was damn cute. Didn't work out, tho.

    Also, I spent quite a while trying to figure out why bald women look so unnatural. Then it it occurred. Women have smaller craniums than men, and since I'm a lot more used to seeing bald men than women, the sight of a smaller naked skull makes me think there's something wrong with it. Kinda like when you see retards with microcephaly, only not so extreme.

    @mangeurdenuage @pro @coolboymew @JoseMariaHDZ the major reason Valve invested into Linux as a gaming/desktop platform was Windows 8. It introduced locked-down "metro apps" and an app store for them. Gabe was really worried about Steam going out of business if MS were to push for game publishers to only distribute software via that windows store, similar to what Apple does with iPhones. Hence, all that work on Steam Machines and SteamOS started.

    Now, does any of those orgs you listed really depend on Linux being a working desktop system? Naaaaaah... IBM and RH mostly get money from the cloud services, as do the rest.

    FSF doesn't maintain shit. They also don't finance GNOME or GNU.

    Linux Foundation spends around 2% of its money on actually Linux, the rest goes to crypto, AI, fighting climate change, creating vaccine passports, and other Very Important Projects.

    Out of all those organisations you listed, Valve is basically the only one really interested in Linux becoming a widespread desktop platform. Everyone else is borderline useless.

    @sun @faggotracist1488 @threat telegram is a separate problem. Their E2EE implementation is borked on purpose and made unusable except in very specific conditions. There is literally no reason why telegram couldn't have E2EE by default in all one-to-one chats or even small groups.

    If you want my opinion, Telegram is incredibly sus

    @sun @faggotracist1488 @threat also, until MLS was invented, E2EE had O(n^2) complexity, where n is the number of devices. MLS brings this down to O(n*log n), I think. Matrix is in the process of migrating to it.

    @faggotracist1488 @threat @sun with xmpp, he just reinterated a well-known critique, namely that it's a shitshow of a protocol and poor compatibility. But this has been known for decades and this is why XMPP died out as a federated chat protocol even before modern E2EE was invented.

    Throwing stones at XMPP is like punching babies. Waaaaaay too easy.

    @sun @threat the main mistake there was matrix devs rolling out their own crypto. AES has multiple portable and proven to be secure implementations. There was literally no need for writing it from scratch.

    @threat @sun I think he exaggerates the threat of many of those vulnerabilities. The timing attack on libolm is virtually impossible except in the most perfect conditions where the host is on the same network, there is no congestion or packet loss, and the victim doesn't have any other processes running.

    I agree though that deprecating libolm out of the blue was a cunt move on the matrix devs part. Someone ought to fork and continue its maintenance, at least when it comes to security issues.
