@aral @beyondmachines1 OMG, it's even worse! They keep the physical samples (it's a logistics challenge, no wonder they're going under), and requesting deletion of the data doesn't mean the destruction of the sample - you need to make a separate request. Source - this Forbes article:

@aral @beyondmachines1 I guess no way. EU citizens might have some mechanism through GDPR (God's Data Protection Regulation, lol). I wouldn't be surprised if the whole dataset was already leaked/given to US intelligence agencies. As for the potential buyers of the company assets, maybe some class action lawsuit might make it too much of a liability not to actually delete the data once requested.

@inthehands @KimCrayton1 I notice some weird behavior of the "stock" Mastodon app, while being on mastodon.social: I don't see / can't access the original post from @KimCrayton1 . Once I click on the link, it opens in the browser. I wasn't able to see it before @inthehands posted it. If this is a Garagon/mastodon.social thing, it's an extreme failure of moderation - I'm gaslit into not seeing racism, and thus not believing people who object to it.

@GossiTheDog Counterpoint: it's their fault, because they view every problem as a certain quantification of money to be gained or lost. And the big power game is who has the power to spend company's money. So they will focus on the expense, and the person in charge to approve it.
