The amount of people who aren't comfortable saying "I don't know" is staggering.
Make "I don't know" more common in y'alls vernacular. It's healthy and leads to learning new things

@drahardja we equate speech with consciousness and that's dangerous. Anything with neurons is conscious to some degree (may be possible in plants but I ain't no scientist), but for some reason we seem to think our complex grammar creates it, rather than it being a byproduct of our complex social structure, bipedalism freeing our hands to hold tools, and millions of years of complex tool use and strategy to take down megafauna.
We have gotten to the point where we can simulate 1(!!!!) aspect of our intelligence: coherent grammar. Not logic. Not consciousness. Not even synthesis of knowledge. Just a sentence that is technically grammatically correct. That's it. Our pattern recognizing brains aren't meant for the world we built and we're constantly giving ourselves false positives (a useful advantage for leopards in trees, false positive means we live, false negative not so much).
People falling for this were always already susceptible to this form of false positive. The feedback loop is what drives the "psychosis".
Crabfield!
some final touches
@freakazoid @evan @thomasfuchs would like to further add that brains don't work using binary signals, unlike literally every computer (including analog). A neuron is not a transistor and implying they work even remotely the same is degrading to both brains and computers.
Photography PSA subtoot time:
Photography is 100% about lighting. Fancy cameras don't mean diddly without proper lighting. Yes this is a skill issue and that's fine, but complaining your camera can't get certain shots because the sensor isn't new and fancy is like complaining your painting is bad because the brush is old and ignoring the quality of the paint used.
and blaming it on the color of your cats fur....omg....just don't....
Fellow digital artists, this is your reminder to do arm, neck, and back stretches.
Drink some water too.
Snails in your aquariums are good actually. I will aggressively push this.
1. They don't eat healthy plants
2. Over breeding snails? You're feeding the whole system too much. Fish and shrimp don't need nearly what you think they need.
3. All snails are friends! Tho some snails like snackin on shrimp and other snails. Get to know the species. Don't blame tank crashes on the species. That's a you problem and you can absolutely prep yourself by understanding the snail varieties you have.
4. "Oh but they're ugly and creepy!" You're ugly and creepy. Don't like me saying that? Then don't put other creatures down like that, jerk. (I have arachnophobia, that's a me issue, it ain't the spiders fault. Jesus)
5. Snails are a healthy part of all ecosystems. Your aquarium is an ecosystem. Not an ego-system.
6. No seriously, they don't eat healthy plants, stop pushing falsehoods because some dingus at the PetSmart said so.
Cool new PayPal scam unlocked.
Scammer sent me an invite and their account name is literally "Payment processed, if this wasn't you call this scam number", so the email looks like PayPal is sending me a "oops did you drop $500 on BitCoin, if not call the help desk"
Fist thing I did was check both my PayPal and my bank account through verified official means. No money moved. Then I checked to see if the email was from a valid source. It was. Then I finally noticed the "invited you as a dev" which means their account name is the payment processed scam.
My IT training prepped me for this. How many well intentioned individuals who aren't prepped will fall for it? More than 0 is too many. They'll see the scam, get scared, and try to call the number.
I implore all of you to talk to your friends, family, classmates, coworkers, etc about scammers and their tactics. Think of the "talk" like getting a vaccine. It hurts and isn't fun, but helps everyone. Not everyone is computer literate. Not everyone is trained to look for this sort of stuff. I've had several family members fall for many such scams over the years and lost tens of thousands of dollars to assholes looking to make a quick buck off of good uninformed people. Taking the time to help out a person who might be susceptible to this kind of attack is the best prevention.

I will never stop harping on this. Generative art doesn't open doors. It's not good. Will never be good. Stop downplaying your own ability to learn!
Neanderthals could make art 43k years ago in a cave! With a box of dirt!
Our electric waffle iron got extra messy, so my husband decided to pop it open to give it a thorough clean. Turns out it was designed to break the circuit board if you tried to pop the heating elements out to give them a proper clean.
This means 2 things:
1. The designers intended it to never be service repaired. Ever.
2. They wanted you to eat waffles exposed to old moldy bits that couldn't be properly cleaned out without breaking the damn thing.
So now we have a cast iron waffle maker that sits on the stove to heat up. It's from 1963 and doesn't require it's own power outlet, doesn't have a circuit board, and we can actually make sure it's clean.
If I can't repair it, it's worthless junk. If I can't clean it, it's worthless junk. Capitalism is worthless junk.
@thegibson Some hackers.town fanart :D
every townie has my permission to use this for whatever reason  (2 different scales, 100% and 1,000%)
@phranck @inthehands @nurkiewicz at no point is this person's gender mentioned. Them is a placeholder for that and if you natively speak english I can guarantee that you've done this without thinking about it.
Additionally, they/them was originally a singular pronoun and was used as such even in Shakespeare's plays. Stop trying to high road people about a grammatical feature that has been part of english for more than 400 years.

@anarchopunk_girl honestly, as long as it's internally consistent i feel like that's fine. for me, my major contention with fictional stories is when the writer just ignores the rules they themselves set up
