Someone restored and upscaled “Urgh! A Music War” on YouTube and it looks fantastic. There has been legal issues with this ever since it was released. This is ground zero for me. Watching these clips on Night Flight showed me there was other music besides OzzY and Judas Priest.

@mazigazi Rumor exists that there is a version of this that is the master cut that is several hours long, showing at least 3-4 songs from each act. Many a Soulseek discussion was had about this back in the early 2000s. I think it would have materialized by now, but I will never give up hope!

@mazigazi Read somewhere that the fall of IRS Records and their animosity with Warner Bros was the big sticking point. Then there’s the bands who are gonna want their cut as it’s long after that deal legally expired. No matter! Gonna snake that YT version with a downloader and replace the nth dubbed vhs pixelated video captured .avi version that made the Souseek rounds back in the day. Without the credits, I should add!

New Portapack H4M arrived. While core functionality remains the same, there’s several updates to the hardware that make it’s form factor smaller as well as a few other quality of use improvements. Need to find a new, black casing, that doesn’t scream “I have a portapack!” if out in public goofing around. I hear US customs is seizing these as jamming devices, which, yeah, you certainly do that. But it’s also an SDR, among other non-illegal offerings. Behave yourselves out there!

“The Fediverse HOA” is a great term to put into my lexicon of dry insults.

Fediverse HOA are the people who bust your chops over not taking the tracking code off a YT link, not using alt-tex in image posts (in one case, not being descriptive enough!) and basically any other repellent gatekeeping shit they foist on you as if they’ve never left the basement.

One time, i was accused of “fat shaming” after commenting how a dude managed to climb on top of a massive boulder.
