@jackfromwisconsin.bsky.social quote post don't look so good, but eh that's okay
Just set up bridging on the social web between this account (Mastodon) and BlueSky. I'll share this on BlueSky to see if it's working.
Bonus pic: we had about 7 people complimenting us on our "No Kings" flag. No one complaining, at least to our face. Only saw 1 trump T-shirt. Pretty good for Indiana I'd say.
Some pictures from the "Harvester Homecoming" show in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I'm here with a buddy of mine that's super into International Harvester and owns a couple himself.
Lots of cool history and vehicles here.
Wouldn't it be funny to spin those oil plants back up to power our AI datacenters? That's what's coming. One datacenter consuming as much power as an ENTIRE STATE is completely unsustainable. "AI" will cook us alive long before it could become sentient.
The UK is attempting to force #Wikipedia to collect your ID. The WMF is suing to keep Wikipedia free and accessible to all.
Fuck surveillance capitalism.
As I wrote last week: "As other information sources fall, Wikipedia’s stubborn independence becomes more vital than ever. The attacks from [the right] aren't just about an online encyclopedia — they're part of a broader assault on any information source that refuses to be controlled."

@scottjenson I find this idea for a feed much more relevant to me than (for example) a local feed. Since everyone on a friends of friends is only 1 connection away, they're usually all people that are interesting, relatable, or relevant to me. Would love to see this in Mastodon core.
Awesome idea!
Some pictures from the show!

Just returned home from Harvester Homecoming in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I traveled with the "Rare Pair Travelettes" 5 hours from Illinois to Indiana. Really great show, so many interesting international harvester vehicles.
[to be fair this was the 90s, it really was only a few years after unification]
@TonyStark @shsbxheb @deborahh it can be fun too when the group is big and engaged. I was helping coordinate but, folks, volunteering a couple of hours a weekend makes a huge difference.
Ron DeSantis won in *2018* by just 30,000 votes! A few more door knockers a weekend could have made the difference!
Volunteer!!
And, not wanting to be brigaded as they were in the past, lemmy.ml admins happily kept their signups not-open but requiring an application and admin approval all through the reddit migration. A massive turn off for newcomers and was probably, along with the fact that beewaw did the same, the biggest factor behind lemmy.world's growth.

@atomicpoet @fediversenews Good! There shouldn't be a super sized instance run by the developers.
@dansup I don't think they should be fully blocked from the databases. An ideal solution would be to have a way to filter from the individually owned and operated instances (basically all of fedi right now) and the corporate ones (Meta right now, Tumblr and others in future).
Right back at you from my Mastodon account!
