Wikipedia loses High Court challenge against UK Government
      from Molly Stubbs
Wikipedia has lost a High Court challenge against the UK Government over verification requirements in the Online Safety Act. The non-profit Wikimedia Foundation (WMF), along with an anonymous editor known as BLN, wanted the website to be exempt from certain regulations that came into force earlier this year. They argued that compliance with the new […]

Bonus pic: we had about 7 people complimenting us on our "No Kings" flag. No one complaining, at least to our face. Only saw 1 trump T-shirt. Pretty good for Indiana I'd say.

Some pictures from the "Harvester Homecoming" show in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I'm here with a buddy of mine that's super into International Harvester and owns a couple himself.

Lots of cool history and vehicles here.

Wouldn't it be funny to spin those oil plants back up to power our AI datacenters? That's what's coming. One datacenter consuming as much power as an ENTIRE STATE is completely unsustainable. "AI" will cook us alive long before it could become sentient.

@scottjenson I find this idea for a feed much more relevant to me than (for example) a local feed. Since everyone on a friends of friends is only 1 connection away, they're usually all people that are interesting, relatable, or relevant to me. Would love to see this in Mastodon core.

    Awesome idea!

      Rare Pair Travelettes
On this channel there will be videos typically relating to my 1958 International Harvester A-120 4x4 3 door Travelette, and my dads 1961 C-120 4x4 4 door Ex-USAF Travelette. My truck is the first Crew Cab produced by any manufacturer. The produced 72 total, and of the 72, only 17 were factory 4x4. My dads truck was ordered for the use of the Chicago O'hare airport Airforce "GEEIA". However he came to own it in the early 2000's, and has had fun with it for as long as I have been alive. That is why I was searching for a Travelette since I was about 12, and saw the A-120 4x4 as my favorite. With only 17 made chances were slim of us finding one, but being the only people looking for one, we found one only a couple years later. My truck was probably used by contactors at first, but in 1972 it became the family vehicle of some folks in Montana, who later moved to Wyoming.

Just returned home from Harvester Homecoming in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I traveled with the "Rare Pair Travelettes" 5 hours from Illinois to Indiana. Really great show, so many interesting international harvester vehicles.

@TonyStark @shsbxheb @deborahh it can be fun too when the group is big and engaged. I was helping coordinate but, folks, volunteering a couple of hours a weekend makes a huge difference.

Ron DeSantis won in *2018* by just 30,000 votes! A few more door knockers a weekend could have made the difference!

    Volunteer!!

And, not wanting to be brigaded as they were in the past, lemmy.ml admins happily kept their signups not-open but requiring an application and admin approval all through the reddit migration. A massive turn off for newcomers and was probably, along with the fact that beewaw did the same, the biggest factor behind lemmy.world's growth.

@dansup I don't think they should be fully blocked from the databases. An ideal solution would be to have a way to filter from the individually owned and operated instances (basically all of fedi right now) and the corporate ones (Meta right now, Tumblr and others in future).
