@ai6yr The concept of the grocery store Safeway was that they would sell only based on cash, not credit. The “safe way” to buy groceries. That was 1915. I guess everything old is new again, we’re back to buying groceries on credit.

@skinnylatte Ooh, Rue Daguerre! One of my very favorite places in the Paris. Steps from one of the best-connected Metro stations but residential feel. Did you know you're right around the corner from the crêpe district? La Créperie Bretonne at 56 rue du Montparnasse is my personal favorite but the best part is there are so many to choose from! Are galettes savory enough to count as breakfast for you?

@slothrop As an English speaker who only knows enough German to order lunch, I’m curious if you have any co-workers who are English-only speakers and succeed in their roles. I know English is the language of tech, especially, but it seems really hard to be part of a German company and not speak at least a moderate amount of the native language.

@emilygorcenski The next time you find yourself at the Dreiflüsseeck, can I recommend Das Oberhaus on the opposite bank? Beautiful view and a variety of fish, game, and meat, prepared well. https://www.dasoberhaus.com/en/
