just btw, once game companies have convinced you it's totally normal to install kernel modules because cheaters, streaming services will be next in line to demand a kernel module for watching slop tv shows
@NEETzsche Well, if you ever want to learn about my most favorite person, I maintain an archive of his lore that nobody can take away https://ekko.lol/
@NEETzsche I am very very unpopular on that forum because I like his lore and design as-is, which means I reject Arcane and True Damage.
For me, I use their hatred of me as a constant reminder that I can't give up on him, because I'm the last person he has. Everyone else wants True Damage Ekko, which is basically a Mr. Generic Rap Artist from New York.
@raccoon Kernel-mode anticheat that must start with the system, sends screenshots of your desktop to a remote server, and has a documented history of false positives and getting pissy about software that comes with gaming hardware
Of course, when they deployed that for Valorant, I saw the writing on the wall and built a dedicated machine for them to shit all over as much as they want.
I'm taking a month break because I want to let other people catch all the false positives.
@icedquinn Much more interesting is that it's coming out that it does, in fact, take regular captures of the framebuffer (you know, a screenshot) and sending them to a remote server
People are posting screenshots of their post-game lobbies, reflecting that *most* of the players in the game are marked as "leavers" because Vanguard either won't let the client start or halts it mid-game.
I'm a Linux sysadmin, a Python developer, a comedian, and a FOSS proponent. A clown with a technical background. But above all else, I'm an Ekko one-trick. He means the whole world to me. I'm not ignoring you; Your instance admins probably won't let you talk to me, even if you want to. This is because I don't believe anybody is above criticism. If I don't reply within a day, hit me up on email or from another instance. I shitpost, and I protect Ekko. This is my purpose.
