Just set my display theme to Windows 95. This is going to be fun for at LEAST six minutes!
Edit: Okay, I only lasted about three minutes.

Fellow white people: Why on earth would you think racism isn't a problem on the Fediverse? It's a problem EVERYWHERE. Literally everywhere.
@Rachel_Thorn Ah! That explains why I don't see it as much. Despite the sign (which is the same in ASL) most culturally deaf folks have gotten away from "mute" in spoken/written language.
Except, somehow, hearing researchers in India. Every time a journal article shows up about "deaf-mutes" we all collectively roll our eyes and complain to the publisher (usually SpringerLink).
@Rachel_Thorn I am used to seeing ろう者 rather than ろうあ者 - is this a regional difference? (I lived in Tokyo so that's what I've picked up mostly.)
Tell me you would still colonize other countries if it wasn't gauche without telling me you would still colonize other countries if it wasn't gauche.
@Rachel_Thorn My friends have posted some great photos to Facebook! We had totality at about 4-6am, I think.
@Rachel_Thorn Washington DC!
@Rachel_Thorn People around me were able to, but I was sleeping. Oops.
If you have been on the Fediverse for less than a week and you're following over 500 people, I'm probably not going to accept your follow request right now. You're in a following frenzy, and I don't want to be part of that.
Settle in, curate your network a bit. You'll run across me again. Ask again then. :heart_pride:
Please consider, in addition to your image descriptions, indicating whether videos you share are captioned. It can be either [cc] or [auto cc] or something similar. Thank you! ??
This research is painful. The #HIV #AIDS epidemic is generational trauma for an #Xennial #queer like me. But the #deaf community suffered greatly during the AIDS crisis, and this work is important. It's just going to take time. #histodon
In no particular order, I am:• a signing deaf person• queer in every way you can think of• a cat fanatic• a PhD student in Museum Practice and a small museum director• a former resident of Tokyo• a science fiction nerd• Ashkenazi Jewish and an atheist• polyamorousI accept most follow requests, but I do check profiles first.
