@mms I thought everybody just wings it, it is supposed to be easy so reading existing code helps to learn. I haven't had to do any serious Elisp though, in decades of use.

@xyhhx #Tiddlywiki sounds fit (the web page can save itself back to the server if it is on a WebDAV folder). But it can't be edited concurrently (maybe its https://noteself.org variant can). #Etherpad or #Cryptpad or #CodiMD are less like wiki and more like Goggle Docs. This is a user's viewpoint, not a hoster's.

@conservancy Interesting project! Why did you choose to support hardware with proprietary firmware in it? Ethically this doesn’t seem all that different from encouraging buying an Apple Mac which also contains a mix of free and proprietary software in it.

    @gsuberland
How do you design interop for proprietary software that unsurprisingly refuses to! Can they be made to commit to the ideals of #4opens ?

The point about accessibility may actually be valid, along with UX as lamented elsewhere.

I think GNU/FSF did a great job, that can only be dissed by ignoring the tremendous force that GCC has been. They made many bets that didn't pan out, like Hurd.

GNU may be improved upon, but belittling them is not a good start.

@gsuberland What annoys me about the gnu/fsf view is that 'software freedom' is seen as a goal, when it should be seen as a means.

    Hi @joeyh.

re: SSD load with Haskell compilation mentioned in:
    https://joeyh.name/blog/entry/three_thousand_lines_of_Haskell/
I was wondering why not develop on ramdisk (/tmp used to be that).

    Regards.

@alex great requirements spec 👍 FWIW, #Perkeep documentation traces almost the same arc. https://perkeep.org but its written in a million lines of Go according to Openhub, so would it be a bit of a risk?

IPFS has been built on, #Filecoin for nodes to store copies of data in lieu of cryptocurrency.

Personally, I am only looking at Bittorrent (magnet URIs that use their DHT, not trackers).

Since when do you know about #deltachat ?

What was your point where you said "wow, I can now actually use it (since my favourite feature was finally implement)"?

I estimate for most people it was the introduction of #chatmail (instant profile creation) and reliable #push_notifications

@eniko Are you on Windows? It's usually much harder there. But generally, using the CMake extension and making sure that also works will allow the C/C++ extension to find all the stuff. Also, depends on what compiler you're using.

@tootbrute its a mix in my case. @ work #TiddlyWiki works fine (takes advantage of Sharepoint's #WebDAV support). Personal notes on the phone are also on a TidfkyWiki in the #Tiddloid app but not syncing it anywhere.
