There is no hero here. Even the 38% that aren't date rapists in some form or fashion are just assholes who've not stopped this shit enough. (Yes, 38.25% would be the other side, just a hair over 1/3rd of us aren't absolutely fuckless wankstains.)

All this to say - they didn't take the books, they didn't destroy or deface the books. They attacked me. Because it's never about the books (or phones, or rap), it's always about the in-group's hatred of the out-group. The panics are just those with power (for D&D it was the christian right movement; for social media it's the techbros & right wing politicians) making that in-group hate flare up to bolster their control and importance.

When I was a teen the D&D satanic panic was in full swing.

I often had game books with me, and got the obvious response for it.

Most of it was yelling or being told I'm going to hell, but this was adults yelling and screaming in a 14 or 15 year old's face.

I only got attacked - I think three times. Once throwing rocks and a baseball bat, once an adult punching me at a Waffle House (got told I was always welcome by the staff though), and my pastor hitting me and kicking me out of church.

Having lived through both (and the book bans, Chinese products, vaccines, food additives, video games, rap, non-English speakers, fucking other people's family BBQs, ect ect) it's all the same thing. It's always the same thing, (rich/white) people blaming something else instead of their shitty abusive parenting and the harmful status quo they depend on to explain why their abused and hurting kids are abused and hurting.

49 states have 'at will employment' meaning unless you have a union, which is 90% of us, we can be fired just for saying we're sick. (yeah, it's wrongful firing - sure sue them. Tell me how rent gets paid while paying for a lawyer?)

The struggle isn't even to explain sick leave is a terrible racket, half (at least) of the US labor force doesn't even have sick leave or use it if we do!

For those who don't know, Dobson was the shitstain propagandist and hatemonger behind Focus On The Family from the 70s on - he helped shape or started modern christian reactionary bullshit - from conversion therapy and blocking AIDs research to wanting a roll back to 1950s (or 1850s) for Civil Rights (esp women's rights)

His legacy is domestic violence, abortion clinic bombings, and inciting violence against anyone different from his pasty white ass.

I dreamed I was part of a content creation team that was producing videos of reactions to non-existent movies and shows. Like "Adventures of Snark Girl" or "Frenemies". Just made up shows, and the face would do this whole deal reacting to it, and we'd have to make up clips and scenes of the shows. Write up plots for her to 'react' to.

Like the plot of Frenemies was a parody of Friends, but with mob enforcers and hit men - trying to make it in the big city.

It was pure delightful nonsense.

After trump's first term everyone said expand the fucking courts. It's not just about balancing or whatever either. The fucking justices aren't getting enough fucking done.

Despite the 7,000+ petitions a year, they also over see 1 or 2 circuit courts each?
