I just installed the google-fonts package on nixos. Wow. A gigabyte of fonts.

I'm astonished that with all my interest in layout editing it's taken me this long to get into installing fonts.

Well, both kinda. But I meant layout editing for printed media. I've done it for a couple of my highschool's literary magazines and like to typeset/layout my own writing as a way to relax.

I started out by using Micro$oft Publisher. Now I've been using Scribus, but looking for a better option, since the interface is pretty dated. I've been investigating SILE today, which is inspired by TeX and seems like it could be really up my alley.

I mean… it's really powerful if you know exactly what you're doing. And the documentation to figure out what you're doing mostly consists of forum posts from 2005. I spent three hours manually adding crop lines before discovering a built-in option hidden in some submenus to do it for me.

@RL_Dane Wouldn't be surprised if ImageMagick has something similar. It helped me out last night when I had a folder full of PNGs and needed a single PDF.
