This is kinda long, but he does humorously ridicule some of blender's less user-friendly interface decisions:

(As an expert blenderer that loves the program)

"the interface is pretty dated"
*glowers in "I used a GUI in 1984, give me an outdated interface any day instead of the technicolor vomit I'm forced to use every day now"

I mean… it's really powerful if you know exactly what you're doing. And the documentation to figure out what you're doing mostly consists of forum posts from 2005. I spent three hours manually adding crop lines before discovering a built-in option hidden in some submenus to do it for me. -

I started out by using Micro$oft Publisher. Now I've been using Scribus, but looking for a better option, since the interface is pretty dated. I've been investigating SILE today, which is inspired by TeX and seems like it could be really up my alley. -

What tools do you use? Just raw HTML & CSS? Can you actually do real page layout with that now? You couldn't really do that not too many years ago.

Well, both kinda. But I meant layout editing for printed media. I've done it for a couple of my highschool's literary magazines and like to typeset/layout my own writing as a way to relax. -

How do you do layout editing? Or do you mean for the web?
In my day (egad, I better hike my trousers up to my chest) Aldus Pagemaker was the hot tool for page layout. Desktop Publishing was *the* killer app for the Macintosh in the 90s. It sustained the company after all the eduction money from Apple ][s slowly trickled out.

I'm astonished that with all my interest in layout editing it's taken me this long to get into installing fonts. -

Dude, if you had told me 30 years ago you had a gigabyte of fonts, in woulda swooned.
Installing new fonts was one of the coolest things to do on a computer in 1991

I just installed the google-fonts package on nixos. Wow. A gigabyte of fonts.
I'm trying not to go mad with power.
