    It's just as good as everything else if you only use simple tools like vim and your language's toolchain, if you can get past the godawful design it has now you'd be fine.
    If you want Xcode, it's perfect — and it's now like you have many other options.
    VSCode is as good as on any other platform. There are also native tools like Sublime Text editor that you might like, but they don't make night or day difference is you ask me.

    Yep, Mastodonians have been claiming that it would introduce Twitter-like behaviour, "harassment", but in fact for those who weren't attempting to replicate Twitter in the first place turned out that it meant nothing, and while the feature certainly has its uses, it's not nearly as widespread as they expect it to be 🤷

    TBH, people using "Google it" instead of "look it up" indeed pisses me off.
    Especially since it started taking absolutely bizarre forms like "I Googled it on Wikipedia" 🤪

    Not quite, I have just switched to a different DoH provider — I have a second DNS proxy running on my router just in case, that is why other things kept working and it took me time to notice.
    But that script was using their DoH service and it couldn't check if my DNS record needs updating.
    I've sent them an email about it and discovered that SMTP of Proton Bridge didn't work on my end either.
    Some things never change: fucking computers are fucking broken :marseysigh:

    Turns out my instance wasn't federating with most of others for nearly a day due to Hurricane Electric's DNS over HTTPS service being broken and my script updating the DNS record with dynamic IP-address relying on it 😩

    What's the deal with this distro, is its users really the biggest problem of Arch? 🤭
    Because on paper it all looks fine and dandy, but somehow I've always stayed out of it and never really felt left out. TBH, I didn't even know the "I use Arch BTW" meme before I joined Fedi.

    Well, yeah, but there are no visible bad wounds and I don't think she set the cats to fight on purpose 🤷
    And yes, shit can of course happen, but young cats are usually safe outside, unless there are some really badass birds or something like that, they usually come back in a day or two. I think they are more scared when they get lost in big cities — their instincts are silent about how to deal with all this shit around them 🙀

    I don't think it's capable of making decisions, neutral networks are good for turning rather vague criteria that humans use into what computer can use, it's what they've been always used for. What is happening now isn't something groundbreaking, we just have more computational power and vast datasets to train them on, thanks data collection becoming nearly omnipresent.

    I just don't see what I could use it for 🤷
    I've been experimenting with neural networks for OCR more than a decade ago, it works. But it's not some silver bullet technology, I think they are really struggling to find good use for it, LLMs look cool to many, so they are pushing that. Then again, they are attempting to position it as it will become sentient tomorrow, but it won't. I think that in a few years the dust will settle down and we will go back to using it only in a handful of fields.

    They are using it to refine what it already knows, it's somewhat akin to multipass processing. And yes, they are already doing it.
    I somehow doubt that it will improve it, their business strategy is to tell us that they can keep improving it. People are expecting it to become capable of making decisions, which it won't be, but they have to make it look like they are still working on something. And they do 😁

    Check out Void. It has everything prebuilt with sane defaults and you don't have to do COOMPILING 24/7 and then fix what got broken. But if you really want to build something with different settings or your set of patches, xbos-src makes it easy.
