If someone is parroting fascists rhetoric, they are fascists. If they do it intentionally or not it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. And the USA is very much a fascist country yes.
However, your father isn't a youtuber with an audience to promote this and indoctrinate thousands of people, nor did you chose your family.
But you do get to chose your press partners.
There is a big difference between talking and collaborating
@bkuhn In my opinion you are confusing what's loud for what's popular. It's a cult with a very loud following but the guy is such a failure that can't get more than 1-2k views even when he is grifting to the right. It's needs effort to be that bad at grifting.
Like imagine being a Nazi on youtube and not being able to pay rent if there isn't a "FUCK GNOME" topic this month.
In my view, 10 theoretical people are not worth legitimizing and platforming the Nazi. That's not how clout chasing works
@danirabbit@bkuhn@purple Bradley, if you were to go on Fox news they would be platforming *you*.
When you go on the Nazi hour talk show however, you are legitimizing and giving credibility to someone who is already a nobody and shunned outcast. You platformed the nazi in this case.
Additionally, having that guy cover the issue in any authoritative capacity means that nobody is gonna touch it and its only undermines your goals.
@bkuhn@danirabbit@purple Fox news has more viewership than all the other channels combined. This guy can’t pay rent without a fuck trans people a week video. There are a bunch of other channels in our space with 2 magnitudes higher viewership.
It has taken the entirety of a desktop developers across all projects and 3 blogposts to start **mitigating**, not even undoing, the bullshit damage about Wayland's accessibility story. And now there's an even worse post that can I can only characterize as literal platforming of fascists and other reactionary elements, while beating the same exact drum about 20yolds not understanding accessibility.
It literary further feeds into the bullshit culture war narrative.
@lproven@theregister I am sorry but the last paragraph about accessibility is complete and utter bullshit. Jesus fucking Christ.
I don't know what's worse, giving the metux more attention or not having a clue what you write about.
There isn't any " remarkable levels of anti-X11 sentiment from Wayland proponents since the announcement" either. Your perception of reality is so wrapped its basically an Ouroboros by now.
@lproven@theregister Not only is accessibility the only real blocker mentioned in the gnome-session MRs but I also mentioned this in the blogpost you linked.
Yet you don't even give a shit and decide to make up your own horseshit that none of us cares about accessibility at all.
