I got maybe ~20 trick-or-treaters, which is better than nothing, but there had been years in the past where we had easily gotten over 200. Feels like a lot of parents just take their kids to trunk-or-treat events at the HOA office nowadays instead of actually going trick-or-treating.

@silver_huskey@fandom.ink I'm mostly better at this point, but I still have a bit of a lingering cough that hasn't quite gone away yet. Definitely don't want to repeat that experience.

@sand@mindly.social Disclaimer that I don't have any personal experience dealing with this exact problem, but: definitely call your insurance company, they can send an adjuster who will take a look and tell you whether they'll cover it or not, and even if not, they should be able to tell you what kind of person you can call about it.

@silver_huskey@fandom.ink Yeah, that's definitely a valid concern... I turned on my 3DS a few months ago for the first time in a couple years and discovered that nearly everything on my SD card had somehow gotten corrupted. :neofox_cry:

I was able to redownload everything and then make a backup of the SD card just so I'll have it in the future, but some of my save data is definitely gone forever.

There's been a lot of drama about fedi servers shutting down and entire countries getting blocked from certain services lately, so I just thought I'd mention that if I know you, you're welcome to have an account on fuzzyfox.social if you'd like! Just send me a message asking for an invite.

It's a pretty low-traffic Sharkey server with only a few active users (and I'd prefer to keep it that way, definitely <30, but we're far from that), but I know how to run a server, and it'd probably take both a natural disaster and me dying in order for it to permanently go offline.

While I do enjoy that this article is pointing out that the AI bubble is starting to collapse, it does still buy into the hype a bit:AI is not going away, and it will surely become more sophisticated over the next few months, to say nothing of the long-term potential.No it won't. "AI" is booming now due to having access to faster GPUs, larger data sets, and people who are willing to plagiarize petabytes of data, but the generated text and images you're seeing now were all possible decades ago; the math behind them hasn't changed. At best, the data it generates is 90% as good as a competent human could do, and when it fails, it fails disastrously. There's no reason to believe that's going to change any time soon.
