    If I were going to dye it, I'd probably use henna. I like henna colors and it's good for your hair. No idea how dying works with grey hair, though!

    P.S. I like it when people have colorful hair, like blue!

    My hair is beyond plucking. It was at plucking 20 years ago. I think I went grey early but the pandemic is accelerating it. I looked it up, autoimmune stuff turns your hair gray. So it could be my hypothyroid or it could be a stealth long covid symptom. But my mother always dyed her hair to hide the grey and I swore I wasn't going to worry about it. I've already gotten complimented on my "highlights" (the grey) and been confused!

    Oh, but I never tried plucking it, either. I excitedly told someone about my first grey hair, and they said "don't pluck it! Kill one, and a dozen go to its funeral"

    I don't have to deal with this any more because my hair has been rapidly turning grey.

    @hakan_geijer @ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs Thanks for the link! I skimmed it but it was a little over my head. Do you have anything in that vein but at maybe more of a e.g. sixth-grade reading level? I am thinking of organizations that serve a tangible purpose, like a bike collective or a tool library. things that have to interact with money somewhat. to pay rent, to pay a volunteer coordinator, to buy tools and parts, that sort of thing.

    Small empty handmade earthen hut with no door and an earth floor. Looks like a human-scale sand castle, like it might dissolve from rains.

    @revoluciana if right now what we have is a pyramid with a small number of people in power, my concern is that "tear it all down" rotates the equilateral pyramid so a different group of people is in power but fucked up power dynamics are still there. "tear it all down" is a too-vague plan and from what I've read in the history books we need something more. So i guess that makes me neither a centrist liberal nor a radical left because if that concern is addressed, i'm fine with "tear it all down"

    @revoluciana well, I've learned a lot on mastodon and I'm sure there's lots more to learn. But I don't know how to reconcile the "tear it all down" with what I've read in the history books. I mean isn't "tear it all down" how for example we ended up with the US in more ways than one? Is there anything you want to point me to that I can read?

    @revoluciana Haven't read people's history but I thought I've read enough similar i'm not expecting it to cover new ground? I'll add it to my list. I've read a tiny bit of noam chomsky or david graeber and I liked them. But I"m not enough of an intellectual, the nuances are lost on me. I'm reading the quote by Ursula K Le Guin on the wikipedia page for the dispossesed and she's talking about nonviolent anarchy. when I read "tear it all down" I have trouble squaring that with nonviolent anarchy?

    @jepyang a@jepyang@wandering.shop

    I conflated it because there are many historical examples of violent revolution, and I am a person who takes things literally. If you don't mean literally tear it all down (and I think some people do mean it literally), then maybe it's something I'm already doing.

    I have bookmarked your toot and may re-read with this in mind. Le Guin is someone I really want to like, she just writes above my reading level. (Her last book iirc, that was readable!)

    @Hawkwinter @academicchatter @abolisyonista @taoish I think this is a problem ORCID was designed to solve. From their DEI page: "By virtue of the fact that we provide a name-independent person identifier for researchers, ORCID inherently encourages inclusivity and equitable treatment of those whose names are more likely to change over their careers, for example, transgendered people, and women in cultures where it is traditional for them to change names upon marriage."
