@icedquinn@blob.cat I would recon it gets to about 50c by touch and I assume that's the charge controller. It's killed multiple USB C to barrel jack adapters because they immediately fry if you backfeed voltage which is really easy to do when the port is bi directional. I try to use micro USB when practical otherwise using a legitimate laptop charger
@icedquinn@blob.cat ive had it for 7 years at this point so it's not the worse one. I just treat it with respect, and nowadays I can't draw more than 45w due to me using a MacBook air M1 now
@icedquinn@blob.cat I have a sketchy 15Ah laptop charger that I've had for a handful of years that was $9 but it's multi voltage barrel jack up to 100w and it gets HOT
@icedquinn@blob.cat this is a reliable brand I assume they were selling old stock since not long after it went off the market, probably because it doesn't actually charge phones all that well, it's 5v3a.
this random $13 power bank I've had for years coming in clutch rn it's powering my phone and a desk fan and it hasn't budged a bar in almost 2 hours. I could see this battery lasting overnight. it's not a fast charger but it lasts forever. I've never depleted this battery before
youtube keeps shoving my feed full of ai generated videos and it's all about the same subject like I don't care fuck outta my feed maybe I'll pick up a game instead this is insufferable
@icedquinn@blob.cat yea I can tell the difference too but I mean the difference between 240 and 360 and 500Hz is another question, you're unlikely to tell a difference.
@icedquinn@blob.cat I could also say it feels better would also have to do with free/gsync since the monitor is displaying less repeated frames and there's no screen tearing.
@icedquinn@blob.cat I mean yea it will have a difference, whether anyone can actually tell a difference or they're taking a placebo pill is another question
@icedquinn@blob.cat a large company being so tight lipped about it seems really sketch to me. and it seems to me the actual benefits of MQA come down to mastering help, even though it's not actually a lossless product. and I've heard that MQA also causes audible artifacting. if their product is truly perfect then they shouldn't have to be tight lipped, provide test audio for engineers to see for themselves in hi-res FLAC and MQA's standard, etc. audiophiles are highly likely to believe that snake oil does something, when they're just being separated from their money.
@icedquinn@blob.cat I don't think vinyl is actually better than digital in any way, it's the mastering that people like, because vinyl can't reproduce low and high frequencies as well they have to be mastered a certain way and some people like that, as well as the physical action of playing a record.
@icedquinn@blob.cat and there are actual snake oil being released like MQA which is just made to separate fools from their money ofc. nothing can compete with a clean digital file that goes to the edges of human hearing. even if you think there might be a difference your brain can really play tricks on you.
@icedquinn@blob.cat actually vinyl can have a "bitrate" since most vinyls since the 80's were pressed using digital recordings, and are only as good as the master tape/sound file used. this isn't a knock against vinyl either that's just how the world works
@icedquinn@blob.cat most professionals buy into the snake oil idk what to tell ya your speaker system/headphones/mastering of the track is 99.9% more likely to be the issue rather than the actual bitrate.
