   this random $13 power bank I've had for years coming in clutch rn
   it's powering my phone and a desk fan and it hasn't budged a bar in almost 2 hours. I could see this battery lasting overnight. it's not a fast charger but it lasts forever. I've never depleted this battery before

     usually those are cheap cell phone chargers that are maybe 2A

     @Jessica i have some romoss' like that. they were like 20$ off because the line was replaced with 60W laptop chargers.
     
     these weren't that cheap but they'll restock the phones a couple times from full, and we were to poor at the time for anything like the power 512Wh power station :blobfoxterrified:

     @icedquinn@blob.cat this is a reliable brand
     I assume they were selling old stock since not long after it went off the market, probably because it doesn't actually charge phones all that well, it's 5v3a.

     @Jessica yeah batteries are kind of a thing you don't want to buy from flurbos. especially high capacity ones.
     
     those are fires that cannot be put out.

     @icedquinn@blob.cat I have a sketchy 15Ah laptop charger that I've had for a handful of years that was $9 but it's multi voltage barrel jack up to 100w and it gets HOT

     @Jessica i love the feature on my morphie that does pass through charging :blobcatlaydown: if the thing below it is drawing power, it will skip the cell and send the power to the phone. its very hard to find any bricks that do it. its the only one i have that does.
     
     all the anker and romoss ones use the cheap design where the whole system flows through the cell always

     @Jessica that might be ok the deep cycles i was reading about were rated to 140-150F, though power stations that hold big cells have built-in fans and thermostats

     @icedquinn@blob.cat ive had it for 7 years at this point so it's not the worse one. I just treat it with respect, and nowadays I can't draw more than 45w due to me using a MacBook air M1 now

     @icedquinn@blob.cat I would recon it gets to about 50c by touch and I assume that's the charge controller.
     It's killed multiple USB C to barrel jack adapters because they immediately fry if you backfeed voltage which is really easy to do when the port is bi directional. I try to use micro USB when practical otherwise using a legitimate laptop charger
