@Adam_Cadmon1 my dad used to tell me they were the most powerful gang in America because they were backed by the state.

Once he said that, it all made sense to me.

#introduction hello! I’m doing this quickly because I’m suddenly getting a lot of new followers!

I’m “B” and I’m an indigenous #Pasifika femme-y nb person living in the Bay Area, CA. I use both she/they pronouns.

I post a mix of random thoughts and say an insightful thing like once a month.

*Due to safety reasons, I am not allowing profiles with no content to follow me. Sorry!

I’m trying to build community over “followers” so please engage a bit first. Thanks :)

@mw @carnage4life sorry, no. I meant to allude to blue-collar workers who often don’t get paid salaries like “white collar” folks do. Should I change it? Edit: I changed it for clarity. There are a lot of issues with how people define “workers” but I believe in solidarity with all workers.

@carnage4life we’re trying! 😅The thing is working class unions are already very established while tech worker unions are starting from scratch. Many of us are fighting an uphill battle where tech companies have all the resources in the world to throw at union busting attorneys.

Weaponizing DEI to take away rights from the most marginalized workers is WRONG. https://theintercept.com/2022/06/07/union-busting-tactics-diversity/

A thin veneer of progressive rhetoric and DEI initiatives are being used to mask harsh labor conditions.

      People-Centered Union Busting
Companies that espouse the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion are increasingly fighting unionization at their workplaces. Code for America is no different. America is in the midst of a labor renaissance. Participation and interest in organized labor is growing as workers come together to express their desires for respect, fairness, and dignity in the workplace—just this week, actors and writers in Hollywood came together to strike for better conditions for the first time since the 1960s. In a setting like this—a notoriously exploitative, for-profit industry—everyone expects the boss to fight the union. But workers are also unionizing and expressing their collective power in the world of socially conscious companies, “good” brands, and nonprofits—what does it look like when the bosses there also don’t want a strong union?
