I dislike soldering. i used to hate it. Then i did it as part of my job as production and sustainment engineer for a medical device company.

I learned that i hated my original soldering setup.
With the right tools, i merely dislike soldering.

Setting up everything to repair one wire that got pulled off while swapping the PCB inside my favorite controller makes me feel like a hands on engineer again, even if it's not quite the Mechanical Engineering i actually do.

i soldered the LT negative wire back onto its pad on the back of this #Xbox controller

I hope that we'll be able to discuss and investigate this problem (if we can even term it as that) and I'll love to be part of the discussion and the solution if there ever is one.

I don't know what the cause of this is, and I'm intentionally avoiding blaming anyone (for those that think it's a white problem) or anything (for those that think it's because of a lack of certain features) yet.

I really like the fediverse, even though mastodon is all I use. I like the spirit of the fedi, and I'll like to see it work.

@GrahamDowns Yeah, American here. I've only had one job, in manufacturing, with high turnover, that paid weekly. Every other one of my like 8 jobs has paid every two weeks.

@Varyag That's fair. I don't like DS/ER for PVP. It's too jank with lag and hitboxes. I'll play PVP casually but if i want real competition in a rewarding game, that's what fighting games like Street Fighter/Dead Or Alive/Blazblue are for

I fll off ER quickly and only came back at friends' urging due to the DLC.

Most of them swear that the subsequent balance patches have done a lot to nerf the most heinous builds so that's something.

Having fun casually playing ER solo/co-op/PvP & just vibing

Different approaches to the same game are fascinating to me.

Like #Darksouls and #EldenRing:
PVP? Maxing out soul level? Fashion Souls? Lore? Overcoming challenges? Co-Op?

I like that discussion because it reveals something about the person and their outlook and interests. Including if they've thought about why they like it and why they play it.

By the time I speak in abstractions like "Baselining current performance metrics" it's because i already know I'm finna be real disappointed with those metrics.

In unrelated news:
today i outperformed on my "10-minute run" distance benchmark and eagerly anticipate the day when my fitness level will no longer be a source of self loathing

Enjoying #EldenRing again after like 18 months away. Build diversity is nice. I like being able to build a capable, sturdy, High STR, DEX, VIT build with two heavy weapons and a Greatshield.

My only incantations are a few self buffs.

Curved Greatswords really are just the best in terms of aesthetics and vibes and the stats are good too.

Good times, good vibes.

I just wish i didn't have to worry locking myself out of quests by going to the wrong area before starting/advancing them
