TyperTask from the above page is still working great and is imo better than AutoHotkey on any text automation. For example:
oopus=for /r %i in (*.flac) do ffmpeg -i "%i" -b:a 192k "%~dpni.opus" && del "%~i"
By inputting "oopus" to a cmd window the text gets replaced immediately with the command (which is actually a pretty great way to transcode all .flac files from nested directories to .opus files and deleting the .flac files in the process. I know I'm awesome). Why oopus you ask? Well, I like to alias my commands after what they are used for and duplicate the starting letter to avoid triggering the replacement when not wanting to. So turning files to flac would be "fflac" and so on.
Second example, quickly pasting mpv with the url on clipboard: mmpv=mpv "{controldown}v{controlup}"
@icedquinn AFAIK (I like using this right after my other post) the 80s and 90s faces are disfigured because they are done by hand and not just copy-pasted digitally from previous head-positions. Modern anime and cartoons recycle ton of static stuff like that while earlier on most frames were done by hand without copy pasting (there were some editing on for example mouth animations to avoid re-drawing the whole scene, but the scene was always drawn rather than pasted and scaled assets in different layers).
Source: I read an old Donald Duck pocketbook story about how Disney did cartoon animations and how "you can do them at home" with a scanner (and other sources and common sense lol)
@icedquinn Yeah, I guess you have to troubleshoot that then. Everything seems to work on the screen and hardware side (given the usb-c cable carries video and not just power).
@icedquinn Just a dumb question cause I'm a filthy Windows casual: Do you have usb-c display drivers installed for the GPU? At least on the Windows side Nvidia has separate usb-c driver from the main driver.
To me it sounds like the screen works just fine, but the PC doesn't send any signals so it correctly goes to sleep mode.
My screen has OTG port on the other side for Android. I use mine with the mini-hdmi and regular usb3 to usb-c charging cable, because my motherboard and GPU don't have usb-c ports.
@icedquinn Can you try plugging them both? It could very well be they fucked up the labels. (Only one port actually powers it). Oh, also my monitor warns that to use the shitty HDR mode it might require more power than the usb cable. So make sure yours isn't doing the fake-HDR thing.
Does the monitor power up by itself or does it require a source to access the OSD? If it shows the OSD it should be getting enough power so the issue is on the video signal.
@icedquinn My portable monitor has usb-c input too, but it requires a "special" usb-c cable to do it that also powers it up. It might be yours doesn't like using external power AND usb-c at the same time either, but expects to be powered by the same port.
@icedquinn I had 40-50" (the fuck do I remember) Trinitron TV and it looked "fine". Less "pixels" isn't that bad if using a similar technology. Modern screens look awful on small pixel density, older screens just looked softer.
But yes, if the standard desktops being 800x600 or similar even recording and streaming gameplay would be fine in SD quality. DVDs are good quality and modern codecs can do same quality in small size with no blocking or other artifacts.
I get what you mean with 420p being fine even on modern screens, just saying it would still probably be the "norm" if we had kept CRT adjacent screens.
@icedquinn And CRT monitors staying the norm so there is no need to go for 4k or even 1080p quality. Or probably a technology further developed in the same technology with no "native resolution" bullshit.
@kirby Uhhh...I just used murmur or whatever the default is with password protection (edited the .ini). I do use Windows though... There weren't any such issues for me.
@icedquinn It's really crazy how power usage works sometimes. Like those big ass fridges being super optimized and then something silly eats a lot of power.
