Any #HarukiMurakami fans here? I do not like to call myself "Harukist" as they say in Japan, but I've been reading him since I was 13, so...it's been almost 35 years! I do find his stories problematic viewed from modern lens and many people are not into his almost magic realism stuff... but I still love his books. My favourite is "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" and "Dance, Dance, Dance" #reading #books

I'm disconnecting all the apps connected to the bird site and feeling all nostalgic of all the old apps. Remember Periscope? Ustream? Plancast? When's the last time I checked? Jeez.

鳥でアカウントをつなげてるサービスを全部外していくという作業やってて、まあ懐かしいアプリの多いこと。PeriscopeとかUstreamとかPlancastとか。ていうかどれだけチェックしてないねん自分。

@JapanProf @gaby @YoWatShiina うわ、私も日本の「ずるい」の観点すごく嫌いです。ちょうど今ブッククラブでステレオタイプのことを学んでいたので「ラテン系だから〜」とことを読んでugh ? となりました。

教師とか教授みたいな教える側にいる人って、私（大人）に話してる時でも生徒に話してるみたいになる人が結構いる。子供に話してるような。ちょっと上から目線みたいな。
I've noticed people who are in teaching position -teachers and professors etc - often talk to me like I'm a student, or like I'm a child and don't know anything.

@BertL Aw thanks! Currently I am offering the book club in Japanese only. and we are reading Brené Brown books in order - 99% of participants are Japanese women. Concepts like "speaking up" "showing vulnerability" are still very foreign in Japanese culture, so I am hoping to change it one bookclub at a time ?

@nataliedombois I highly doubt that. This is a very inclusive space.

I'm starting to see folks I followed back when there were barely anybody here lol...I think I was desperate. Now that I see more people I am slowly removing people that I don't seem to have much in common...

@goldiechan Yeah. Early on I learned when I start to think like "I'm working SO HARD but I'm only getting THIS LITTLE responses/likes/views/plays etc!" - that's a red flag I start to go into "blaming the listeners/community" mindset. Nothing is worth doing if you're burning yourself out. ?♀️

@goldiechan Yeah I'm trying hard not to get burned out. I started to take time off and sometimes publish a re-run.

@goldiechan I'm a podcast producer so I publish episode weekly. I'm also a writer and publish newsletter somewhat periodically ...they are in Japanese but I am hoping to dust off my English podcast back up soon... and I am also working on my first ever play (in English -gulp)!
