Recently I received an email from Goodreads saying that I was losing my librarian status, and to be honest I totally forgot that I had this access because now I use @bookwyrm. It did get me thinking of all the time I've invested contributing to Goodreads, Foursquare, and LastFM - all commercial platforms that benefited from my free labour. These days, the only platforms I want to contribute to are non-profits, such as @openstreetmap, @musicbrainz and @OpenLibrary.

When it comes to #OpenData for books, are there any bots that help with bidirectional linking between entities? For example, if I add a Wikidata identifier to an author on @OpenLibrary, is there a bot that will add the converse identifier to @wikidata?

Lately I've seen posts that say that Mastodon is waning, and arguably should be doing more to win people over from using Bluesky or Threads, which makes me wonder does it even matter? Sure I'd love #Mastodon to be the most popular platform, and for all my friends to be using it, but I'd argue the that it's not the role of the #Fediverse to be the dominant platform, and instead provide an alternative to #bigtech social media.

@pixelfed I'm struggling to find content that interests me, is there a way I can follow a hashtag or control what tags appear on the discover page in #pixelfed?

Is @pixelfed federated with #Mastodon? I posted a photo on the former with a hashtag, however when I try searching for that hashtag on the latter it doesn't come up 😕 #pixelfed #fediverse
