I think nobody *prefers* public transport, except in areas where there's large traffic jams and the public transport bypasses those. Otherwise personal transport is faster and more convenient.

If the model itself is not free software, it falls the tentacles test. Other than that, sure. -

Jobs run incorrectly, and then you have to run them again... And then you get this.

You're not wrong. I'm not saying that Google is a great company, and I'm not saying FOSDEM can't exist without Google. As it stands though, FOSDEM can't exist without cornerstone sponsors, and Google just happens to be the company that wants to be it.
If that means you won't be there, then I respect you for sticking to your principles. Not enough people do that in this world.
But FOSDEM gives its sponsors than do most other sponsored events, is what I wanted to point out -

Why does FOSDEM have cornerstone sponsors? Because not enough people donate to be able to do away with them.
What does Google get for sponsoring? Their name is mentioned on the website, in the closing credits of video recordings, in the opening and closing talks. That's it, nothing more. -

Wouter Verhelst (wouter@pleroma.debian.social)'s status on Sunday, 22-Oct-2023 23:52:49 JST Wouter Verhelst Cuddling elses or not?
Damien Conway's "perl best practices" recommends not to, because it would reduce visibility of the else block.
I vehemently disagree. Having an else block start on a line by itself makes it look like an unrelated statement, when in reality it is a continuation of the if block.
By cuddling your elses, you make it more clear that the block is part of a larger set of other blocks (if/elsif/else), rather than it being a block on its own. -

Only in the 'million monkeys with typewriter' sense. Yes, eventually there will be something that, by pure chance, ends up being correct.
But an LLM is just advanced statistics. It makes plausible-sounding lies, by definition.
