@dansup thank you for the clarification!
This makes me think, it would be super useful to have a privacy respecting boilerplate ToS, that takes federation into account, that projects could default to as they are getting started. 🤔

@rimu @hongminhee this SWICG proposal seems like a way to link from HTML documents to their JSON-LD representation, not between different JSON-LD representations. Once inside the JSON-LD world it feels more natural to me to put the information into the JSON itself.
@dansup hashing & preventing duplicates is ok.
But perhaps you could also inject a placeholder post (with a processing status?) into the home feed? Just on the client side, and just for the poster.
Why do I keep following advice from people who consistently prove themselves unreliable?! 😩
@aral technically I think 8.0.x is considered a separate version track from 8.5.x. So 8.0.53 is the highest they can go without facing compatibility breaking changes. Nevertheless, that version is no longer supported (since 2018), so yeah, seeing it in the wild is bad.
@aral Emoji as logo, an awesome idea!
The choice of 💕 is also great. Fits well with the core ideals and kitten's existing aesthetic.
@dansup how about bundling account deletion with some sort of data export? That way folks that come to regret deleting their account can recover it themselves. And they still immediately accomplish what they set out to do: remove their data from the server.
Not sure about the performance impact of that though.
@aral I think this line of thinking is dangerous. It belittles pain points that less technical users currently experience with the fediverse.
This is why your work on small web is so important. Or onboarding to fedi, like the import feature recently added to pixelfed. Or why porting identities should be improved.
While work on these things is in progress, it's not done. For me personally fedi is good enough to replace big tech. For others it might not yet be. It's important to acknowledge that.
