   @dansup@mastodon.social not sure if you mean exactly this, you probably do, but I think you should compare hashes with the rest of the files in storage, and if one of them matches, just link that file instead of uploading a new one~

     @dansup hashing & preventing duplicates is ok.

     But perhaps you could also inject a placeholder post (with a processing status?) into the home feed? Just on the client side, and just for the poster.

     @dansup oh I'm guilty of doing that and I think it's because the pop up message was small and low on the screen, and disappeared before I could even read it. It was grey, too, which in my mind suggested an error message. I couldn't see anything like a square with some mention like "uploading", similar to when you upload to YouTube. That kind of confirmed my suspicions. After a while, I just figured I needed to reupload and that's only when I saw that the first video had been uploaded.

     @dansup Can you please handle a scenario where an upload fails that the user can try again? I've had some video uploads fail to post this week with "Error".
