@clarity I remember reading once somewhere that the more layers of indirection, the worse people are at feeling responsible for something (or assigning responsibility to others, e.g. shareholders), and that the reason is that we intuitively think in terms of "cause" and "effect" and every extra step in a causal chain measurably reduces how much we feel someone had "agencency" in causing something.
We're (well, it's not really "we", is it?) are basically structuring our society to optimize that.
