@clarity I remember reading once somewhere that the more layers of indirection, the worse people are at feeling responsible for something (or assigning responsibility to others, e.g. shareholders), and that the reason is that we intuitively think in terms of "cause" and "effect" and every extra step in a causal chain measurably reduces how much we feel someone had "agencency" in causing something.

We're (well, it's not really "we", is it?) are basically structuring our society to optimize that.

@cwebber @liaizon Ah, the good old ADHD curse of being either completely unable to get anything done, or doing such a hyperdetailed deep dive considering all angles (including from the point of view of spatial hyperdimensions discovered along the way), that nobody is able to sift through the actual mountain of output unless they're also people with ADHD going through the same thing.

@clarity as someone who has been in a nightmare scenario version of being-sick-on-my-birthday I can only agree that this is 100% the best course of action.

This is a thing that I feel is underestimated by so many people: these tools are trained to generate output that is as *convincing* as possible, regardless of whether the output is *correct*.

@aral agreed, with the caveat that I do "care" to the extent that how a tumor mutates in response to a cancer treatment in an attempt to evade said cancer treatment is very important to keep track of.
