@jk Remember when web pages were two files, at most? One .html and, if the developer was particularly keen on things, one .css? And, together, those files rarely exceeded a few MB?
Pepperidge Farm remembers, and so do we.

Hello #Fediverse,
We are still trying to raise money via #MutualAid for an expeditious departure and permanent relocation from within the US to outside the US, and have so far received no donations, and boosts of our #crowdfund post have entirely stopped.
We are therefore opening up oracle card readings and/or bespoke #poems for donations.
Card readings are 5$USD each, poems are pay what you want, with a 1$ minimum.
DM for either.

@Outersider "The ultimate hidden truth of the world is that it is something we make, and could just as easily make differently" -- D. Graeber
@baldur Exactly. Are we asking this question just to hear ourselves ask it? Or do we want to do something to, in any way, make the situation less terrible?
For our part, we want to try and solve or at least mitigate the issue, and trite responses that are, in as many words, "what do you expect" become less than useless in that goal.
@AnarchoNinaWrites Billionaires and their bootlickers will respond with trite nonsense like "a million dollars just isn't what it used to be!" as if 1: anybody needs a million dollars (let alone 100m, or 1b) and 2: it wasn't the ultra-wealthy driving inflation.
Reduce the maximum wealth any person can have, and let's see how quickly those luxury yachts drop price (or drop out of existence). Ideally, the latter.
@AnarchoNinaWrites Oh definitely.
Of course, the reason is clear: the first story furthered the Approved Narrative. The second, directly contradicts the same. We can't have people realising they're legally allowed to organise, now can we??
@AnarchoNinaWrites Pretty sure this exact mechanic is part of the BioShock franchise. A storyline specifically about the dangers of capitalists and libertarians doing their gross tango.
@AnarchoNinaWrites We're beyond tired of the implication (from Libs and others) that the two decades of ongoing global war somehow isn't "political violence".
Of the implication that police having cart blanche authority to murder in the street isn't "political violence".
Of the implication that the constant erosion of civil rights, led by both political parties, isn't "political violence".
@Outersider @JessTheUnstill
In our view, and repeating the position of other disability advocates we've spoken with:
the more correct term to describe those behaviours is "anti-social". There's no evidence to suggest that the behaviours of the capitalist class actually mirror the (now outdated) diagnostic criteria of sociopathy. But they are, by every definition, anti-social behaviours. This neatly avoids any "friendly fire" that might catch disabled people in even more violence.
Hey, just a small thing: labelling greedy capitalists as sociopaths doesn't actually harm the capitalists, but it does further dehumanise people with mental health issues. Especially in this conversation about not dehumanising, it seems important to be careful how we discuss things. 🙏🏽
@Outersider @JessTheUnstill
So, it's a bit difficult because at this point "sociopath" is not a diagnosis that is given out, however in broad: the capitalist class exhibit no difficulty (as a group, or ata statistically higher rate than the general population) in extending empathy (in the clinical sense) towards those in their family and close social circles. Additionally, expressions of intentional violence and anger are two things that do not readily occur in sociopathy. (...)
@Outersider @JessTheUnstill (...)
Sociopathy was characterized by low emotional response across the board.
Additionally, we are going to firmly disagree that mainstream society fetishises mental illness in a ""positive"" way that encourages emulation. The potential cases of "faking" diagnosis are 1: likely the result of a lack of medical awareness as to how the disorder actually manifests, or 2: should there actually be a trend, it is a response to wide spread disenfranchisement where the (...)
@Outersider @JessTheUnstill (...)
individual who is "faking" is experiencing a legitimate social deficit and is seeking any community they can connect with, because they have no community connection that they can draw on otherwise. If anything, this is evidence of what we might call human zoochosis, though it is never a good idea to try and diagnose others (especially in abstract).
But in our experience, it's rare that a genuinely healthy person fakes disability, mental or physical. (/End)
@AnarchoNinaWrites See, it only appears hypocritical because we, foolish as we are, imagine that the two are related. In the eyes of Empire, one is a direct consequence of their global violence, and cannot be tolerated within the Imperial Core.
The other has the potential to be used as propaganda about how Amazing the Imperial Core is.
🙄🙄🙄 (Eye rolls directed at the blatant hypocrisy within the above described position.)
@itsmeholland @spencerbeswick Meanwhile, that "logic" only apparently applies to the working class. According to the same people making that claim, the only possible way to motivate rich people is by giving them even MORE money, with no strings attached.
@GossiTheDog the US Empire has a long history of using healthcare and health workers to infiltrate and cause direct harm to targeted communities.
They pretended to vaccinate for flu in Pakistan, and instead of doing that they instead just stole genetic info to supposedly track bin Laden, despite that not being at all how genetic tracking works.
You can't tell if somebody is near by based on the genetic information of a person you know is in an area.
Not to mention Tuskegee, Puerto Rico, etc.
Many people don't realise just how important it is to keep your silly levels high. Low silly levels can cause a variety of complications, but most importantly if your silly levels are too low you cannot dilly.
And if you can't dilly, where's the dally???
Keep your silly levels up, people! Nobody wants to be caught dully when it's time to dillydally.
@vantablack There's a slight irony the the fact that there aren't automated advertisements on Mastodon, but we've seen this post at least twice now. 😂
