Hey what's going on with kidnapped head of state Nicolas Maduro? That was so crazy how that happened a week ago and they don't shout that out real quick every day

@thomasfuchs I would say most teens didn't have cellphones until way after they were burning CDs, but I guess that's an age bracket question.

I was burning CDs when you still had to pay for long distance calls in Canada and maybe 2 of my friends had cell phones if they were rich. Nobody was texting because families didn't get their kids cell phones yet. MSN messenger was how kids stayed in touch on their family desktop computer.

@thomasfuchs the most upsetting thing is that CDs largely predated cellphone adoption.

I feel like people often misunderstand political decisions they are offered. Like the US had the option for Trump to be in fucking jail right now and live in a normal world.

Those are the butterfly effect choices we are offered, and people somehow see it as a wishlist/talent show choice.

@ATLeagle @erin If people are disinterested in the only opportunity presented to them to put out the fire in the building, they misunderstand fires and safety.

One of my favourite parts of the 21st century is when we rebranded shills as influencers.

@GottaLaff They already said out loud they aren’t trying to win elections with voters, they’re going all-in on attacking election administration. That’s why Trump is seizing this particular institution, it was the first thing his crony-in-law said, attacking election integrity.

@hey @thomasfuchs Replacing passionate community volunteer leadership with corporate approved paid leadership would absolutely destroy the thing that made Reddit what it is. The new mods would be beholden to their managers and become at-Will employees.

People would still use Reddit, but then again people still use Twitter despite the total implosion of quality.
