@Suiseiseki @RustyCrab but surely if you have the source code responsible for that object code, and you have the training data that went into it, that would be freedom-respecting, right? Since you have all of the constituent pieces required to make that binary in a format which is available for your inspection, modification, distribution and obviously running the thing. It seems like it would respect the 4 essential freedoms at least -

@Suiseiseki @RustyCrab hey Suiseiseki I wanted to ask: what would you think about an AI model whose training data and methods were entirely open to public inspection and modification? Do you think it's possible for such a thing to respect your freedom even if the binary data itself is otherwise opaque to the user? Such a method would be, I think, more freedom-respecting than an image which doesn't also come packaged with the files necessary for the modification of its layers in, say, GIMP. I dunno I'm thinking out loud here - what do you think? -
