#TheDress viral photo will be 10 years old next month. And to me it still looks like a #WhiteAndGold dress and not #BlueAndBlack. I can’t adjust my perception to make it look blue and black unlike with other reversible optical illusions.
Today is Rizal Day, a public holiday in the #Philippines 🇵🇭 honoring the martyrdom of national hero #JoséRizal. Rizal was executed on 30 December 1896 after being charged for sedition and rebellion against the Spanish colonial government.
As a simple token, here is a photo I took in 2017 of a historical marker installed by the Philippines’ national historical agency in Berlin at the site where Rizal stayed while writing his first novel, Noli Me Tangere.
“The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that it was the first time since records began in 1951 that so many storms co-existed in the Pacific basin in November.”
While I wasn’t affected too much by recent storms / #typhoons (at worst it was just rainy weather), the incoming #ManYi / #PepitoPH is likely the closest to approach #Manila, #Philippines 🇵🇭 .
“Trump has also said he will once again remove the U.S. from the Paris climate accord, under which countries agreed to try to limit warming to under 1.5 degrees C and ‘well under’ 2 degrees C.”
Back in 2010, the #OpenStreetMap#Philippines 🇵🇭 community held a mapping party in Cavite.¹ To show off the event, I created an animation using the popular #Python OSM party render² script:
This is a political drawing by Hermann-Paul published in 1899 in Le Cri de Paris, a French magazine, and was created as a commentary on the Boxer Rebellion.
#MetroManila, the #Philippines’ 🇵🇭 national capital region, has just been placed under a state of calamity by the Metro Manila Council (MMC) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) due to extensive #flooding. 🌧️
Did you know that there is a 1:1 scale replica of the world-famous #Shibuya Scramble intersection that can be rented by TV and film productions located 80 km northwest of Tokyo in the city of #Ashikaga? The real intersection is so busy that nobody can close it down for controlled filming.
This set was notably used in the hit Japanese TV series Alice in Borderland.
@phiofx I'm not exactly sure but you might be thinking of @ohm? OpenHistoricalMap is sort of like OSM (mostly uses the same tech, tools, apps, and other software) but is intended to map the complete geographic history of the Earth whereas OSM is intended to document Earth as it actually is right now.
While doing some editing in #OpenStreetMap, I stumbled onto this dramatic transformation at Domoroy Point in Barangay Matayum, Cataingan, Masbate, #Philippines 🇵🇭. In a bid to boost tourism, the local government created the huge man-made Matayum Lagoon.
You can see the transformation by switching to different aerial imagery layers. Mapbox at the top shows the area before the lagoon was created, the middle from Bing with the initial excavation, and the bottom from Esri with the finished lagoon.
@youronlyone there are ways to tag in #OpenStreetMap if a Jollibee store is owned/operated directly by JFC (tag: operator=Jollibee Foods Corporation), but there's currently no good way to tag that it is a franchise store.
