   #30DayMapChallenge 🗺️ Day 5️⃣: A journey

   Back in 2010, the #OpenStreetMap #Philippines 🇵🇭 community held a mapping party in Cavite.¹ To show off the event, I created an animation using the popular #Python OSM party render² script:

   After 14 years, I thought that this would be an excellent animated map to recreate using current #HTML5 technologies. And it looks good!

     I wouldn’t dream of trying this back in 2010, but I think the state of JavaScript + Canvas is good enough that I could do this now.

     The original party render script uses the Cairo graphics library and HTML5 Canvas is essentially an almost direct counterpart.
